Very friendly host and clean room

A lovely place with an unique atmosphere, lovely staff and in a great area of Japan.

The hosts were lovely and accommodating allowing me to check in early and gifting a bottle of sake after a quiz. The on site onsen was a plus especially since tattoo's were accepted. The building is also earthquake proof as I discovered, experiencing a 6.3 quake whilst I was there.

Loved the staff they where so nice. The onsen just down from our room. The absolutely lovely large Japanese style room. We just loved everything on this accomodation.

traditional japanese experience was good for us and our children and grandchildren. the owners were lovely friendly and helpful. we loved the onsen: first onsen for our boys.

The staff are very friendly and helpful. The inn has a lot of charm and character, although it is somewhat limited in terms of facilities and amenities. I received a complimentary sample bottle of local sake when I checked in. It was delicious. There was a private shower, toilet and bathtub in the single rooms. My room had its own wireless router and the internet speed was good. Though there are not many power points you can use for charging (I counted a total of 3 in the room, not including the one next to the bathroom sink) The futon is retro but it was comfy. The room wasn't cold as it was spring but there is a air conditioner for you to adjust the temperature yourself

Amazing hosts, so welcoming and friendly.

A very traditional Ryokin. The staff were friendly and very helpful, even drove us to the train station. A very welcome and unexpected bonus.

“A special Onsen Ryokan”

The Onsen Ryokan has beautiful decoration in different floors. Although the hotel spring bath was small, it was very comfortable.

beautiful rooms, surroundings as well as friendly and gracious hosts. walking distance to matsushima bay sightseeing area and matsushima kaigan train station. truly enjoyed our stay there.

We have stayed here before and found everything was great again our hosts were so helpful. Rooms are spacious clean and warm.

It was lovely to stay in a traditional hotel with and authentic ryokan feel without all the bells and whistles. I prefer simple hospitality with kind and friendly service and Japanese style rooms. A bathhouse is also a necessity and Matsushima Koumura was all of this.

This is a wonderful place to stay, the owner and the staff are so lovely, you can really feel the warmth when staying here. The building is beautiful, the rooms and beds were so comfortable (I did not want to get up!). We did not have a chance to use the onsen but the facilities are excellent. We enjoyed the quiz on arrival! It is clear how much care and attention has been given to Matsushima Koumura - we hope we are lucky enough to visit again!

Traditional hotel. Very friendlyv staff. Large room. Additional small lounge area for guests (which shit at 21:00). Beds comfortable despite sleeping on the floor.
