Breakfast was accommodating. I don't like cold food so when I refused the fish, they suggested I try the omelettes instead which I enjoyed, made by the chef. Very comfortable facilities. Open air footbath is lovely. Onsen was good. They have a icy lemon sherbet machine in the lobby.

Very traditional Japanese hotel in lovely location. The staff were super accommodating and efficient.

Exceptional room, facilities, staff and service. It’s a slow town, and it is great for travellers to come unwind. At a glance, the cost may be on the high end, but given that it’s half-board (fantastic meals by the way) and onsen is available, I think it’s worth it. The hotel is located on a hill, so it might be slightly difficult to carry/drag hefty luggage up, but it is doable. Alternatively, the hotel can arrange for a pickup at the train station if you call them (after 2pm if I recall correctly…)

Dinner is fantastic and beyond my expectations.

The best thing about the Komatsu-kan Kofu-tei is the location. The view is breathtaking. Overall, this is an authentic Japanese Ryokan and the whole experience was very beautifully Japanese. The food was very traditional, as was the service and the rooms. We loved the onsen.

An older style hotel offering fabulous traditional service from every staff member. There seemed to be almost one staff for every guest. We opted for the breakfast and dinner options. The many courses involved with each meal were all beautifully prepared, presented and served. Our room on 4th floor offered the most magnificent view over the bay and pine covered small islands.

The breakfast is a high example of fine Japanese cuisine. It may be difficult to enjoy for some western palates; the flavours and textures are unusual to us. But it is made with care and attention. The outdoor onsen has wonderful views, as does the private onsen. The whole hotel has old-world charm.

It’s a ryokan style hotel, with onsen, which allow tattoos and a private onsen too, which is amazing! The views of the ocean are breathtaking, as well as the many small islands that fill the horizon. The staff are beyond amazing and the room was just fantastic! 10/10!
