“Great place”
We're very happy with the place, bed is a bit small but we only stayed 1 night. Walking distance to both Matsumoto station & castle, nice buffet breakfast, love the free bikes that we used to ride to Aeon Mall nearby for dinner.

If you are visiting Matsumoto for the New Year and want a budget-friendly base specifically for the Winter Illumination, this is a practical "no-frills" choice. While the property shows its age, its location is unbeatable for the price. The Location: Front Row for the Festival The hotel’s premier feature is its proximity to the action with convenient store nearby. Winter Illumination: You are perfectly positioned for the Matsumoto Castle Projection Mapping (which runs from Dec 13, 2025, to Feb 15, 2026). It is an easy 3–5 minute walk to the castle and the Daimyomachi Street light displays, meaning you can quickly duck back to the hotel if you get too cold. Parking: They offer parking for 800 yen per night at a nearby lot—a great rate for the city center during peak holidays.

“Great hotel in ideal location for Matsumoto castle”
The location is fantastic. You're right by Matsumoto Castle, a beautiful shrine, and frog Street which is full of lovely souvenir shops and eateries. About 15 minutes walk from Matsumoto station too. The accommodation provides 4 bicycles on a first come, first served basis for no extra charge. It's a great way to do some sightseeing in the backstreets and stumble across more beautiful shrines. Use them to visit Matsumoto Mingeikan Folk Art Museum, a beautiful little building which contains lots of interesting and equally beautiful objects both from Matsumoto and around the world. The breakfast for 700yen each was very good and has a good selection of food to choose from. Really nice shower with lots of water pressure. Very friendly and helpful staff.
