Overview
The completely non-smoking Ryokan Matsukaze is just 10-minute walk or a 5-minute drive from JR Matsumoto Train Station. The ryokan offers simply furnished Japanese rooms with futon beds. No meals are served at the property. Rooms at Matsukaze Ryokan are air-conditioned and include a fridge, a TV and complimentary green tea bags. Floors are made of tatami (woven straw), and bathrooms are shared. Shared bathtubs and showers can be reserved for private-use free of charge. Matsukaze is an 8-minute drive from Matsumoto Castle. A convenience store is located a 3-minute walk away.

“Great value stay and would book again”
Lovely authentic feeling ryokan without the fancy modern touches of some more expensive / touristy ones. Onsen was great. Very affordable compared to other local property.

“Lovely little ryokan”
Cozy little ryokan in a quiet part of the town. Within easy walking distance from the Matsumoto station, not too far from the castle either. Excellent value for your money. The futons were comfy and the staff helpful. Japanese walls are in general thin but we slept well as there were clear instructions on quiet time. The bath was shared but used by one family/group/person at a time.

“A step into local Japan”
Owners were extremely accomodating and very friendly. Free use of bicycles was great. Beautiful views of the river and mountains. Felt like a grandparents house in a nostalgic way. Shared space with big smart TV was very welcomed.

Authentic traditional Ryokan experience. Beautiful rooms with complimentary tea. Free access to bicycles which we utilised. Amazing shared bath house. Kind and friendly hospitality. Fantastic, peaceful location.
