Its a really homely, friendly place, the rooms are spacious and comfortable with good toilet and shower facilities. The kitchen is good too with free coffee and tea which is a nice touch. Thanks for a lovely stay.

Very good location,I really liked the room as you are actually sleeping in the dark Staff very helpful and nice communication and easy access 12 min from the train station and many good restaurant around and you can use bicycle for free also Go for it

I like this location in Matsumoto as its close to the old part of town and Castle along the river. I was expecting a guesthouse but it really felt more like a backpackers. Young European ladies running the hostel were lovely but were unable to give much insight to Matsumoto as they too were travellers. Place was clean and we had our own room of 4 bunkbeds for the two of us. I probably should have done my research a little better with regards to standard but overall we were not unhappy with our stay for the price and only being there 2 nights. Would recommend to young travellers looking for dorm like accom with a group.

I was at first a little hesitant as I only booked it cuz my travel partner wanted a kitchen. But everything was fantastic, the facilites were always clean the bed was great, the view from the common area out onto the street was calming. And they helped me get tickets to a local football match. Oh yeah and there is lots of free tea there, and not just the crappy stuff, the good stuff like darjeeling and earl gray.

My favourite place I've stayed so far in Japan. This hostel really makes you feel at home, with a good kitchen, free tea and coffee, relaxing communal area, and very friendly and helpful staff. They also run a cafe downstairs which sometimes has live music. They've struck a great balance with a social atmosphere and quiet dormrooms for a good night's sleep.

“Perfect stay in Matsumoto, especially for solo travellers”

The room was very clean, quiet, and warm Bunk beds were very comfortable Bathrooms were nice and clean Staff and other guests were lovely :) Location was perfect, the hostel is on the cutest little road filled with lots of shops and places to eat

I go often to this guesthouse when I am in Matsumoto for work. It is very well furnished, comfortable and clean. The way the guesthouse functions is also very well done and efficient (check-in/check-out go smoothly and there are spots to work inside, the kitchen is also well equiped and easy to use). The staff are very friendly and helpful. A café is also attached to the guesthouse, where they play live music some evening. Finally, it is close on foot from the station and is located in a nice commercial street. Really really recommended.

I had wonderful experience in nawate guesthouse. My original plan was to stay only 2 nights but i extended to almost 20 because of how good the place, the people and the city were. The guesthouse has its own cafe on the first floor, the food is great there are events regularly, the staff is friendly and welcoming. The accommodation in the guesthouse are great, this was honestly the most comfortable bed I had in a guesthouse, the common room is not that big there was a lack of space in the kitchen for long term stay like me but for a normal stay there’s no issues. My best traveling experience until now.

Really nice and clean place. Beds are really good. I had to change my plans and wanted to stay 1 night instead of 2 nights. It was not a problem to change my date and i get a total refund of my money. I would understand if they didn't give me a refund, so it was so nice they did! Location is also perfect

“Everything was very clean, very beautiful, and the staff were very funny”

The hosts are really sweet and helpful. The facility has a great kitchen and common area. The hostel is close to the station (10 min walk), and to the castle/ old shopping streets. During winters they provided hot water bottles and offered extra blankets. We had a very comfortable stay!

Really enjoyed my stay! I would recommend Nawate guesthouse for the warmth and hospitality to me on my solo travels!

This Guesthouse is amazing! Super clean, a cute lounge area with plenty of games and books, and spacious bed areas in the dorms. And the owners and staff are absolutely lovely. Also loved the half price drinks in the cafe downstairs.

The very accommodating , friendly and helpful people and atmosphere of the place. This is my preferred guesthouse in Matsumoto, and have stayed here on three separate trips to Japan.

“Comfortable and affordable place to stay”

Staff were very friendly and they had marked out their own recommended places to introduce the guests. I stayed at the female dorm which was a pleasant experience as the space was spacious than i expect. Bed and quilt was quite comfortable for me so I had a good rest. I would recommend to try the cafe below/ next to the accoms as their food and drinks were both delicious and satisfying.
