Located very close to Kappa Bridge, but outside the busy areas. The view from the room and the small balcony was gorgeous: Full mountain view! The service was nice and smooth, everything was fine. We appreciated also the coffee/tea lounge at the ground floor with free self service for hotel guests. The onsen has mountain view, too.

Very clean. Has a public bath for onsen and showers. The traditional japanese dinner and breakfast was exceptional, but not for picky eaters haha An amazing view of the kamikochi river! Do recommend to book a stay here!

The staff were very kind to allow us to store luggage there when we arrived in the early morning which was a lot more beyond the check-in time. The staff were helpful and polite. The dinner and breakfast included in the room package were superb. Location is good, close to cafe, souvenior shops but not noisy.

The location couldn't be better - right by the famous Kappabashi Bridge,The staff were incredibly helpful, not just with navigating the area but also with any dietary restrictions I mentioned. Breakfast and dinner were both incredible experiences - delicious, traditional Japanese meals that were absolutely mouthwatering.

This was the most luxurious place we stayed in japan. The dinner and breakfast were unbelievable - the other hotels we stayed at couldn't compare with the meals here. We were one pescetarian and one vegetarian (notified the hotel in advance) and were extremely impressed by the food. Beautiful location, we stayed in the room with the balcony which was glorious. Would have loved to stay longer

Was apprehensive when I booked the place. But I have no regrets. We stayed 3 nights. The surrounding is serene and a place to be if your purpose is to hike around here. A good get away from the hustling and bustling city. This is half board so there’s no worry about food. The breakfast and dinner were delicious and everyday it’s different varieties. You can choose Japanese or western breakfast. The room has no toilet or bathroom. It is outside the room (few cubicles) but was very clean.

Good dinner and breakfast with affordable price compared to other hotels in the region. Although it looks old, but the room is very clean. The host were very friendly and able to speak English. They provide outdoor slippers and hiking stickers for guest to use. The onsen is huge and good.

“Beautiful Ryokan”
It's a beautiful ryokan. We got a room facing the river. The view from the balcony was totally chill n relaxing! Love it. I would stay here again for the view.

“Beautuful Kamikochi”
there was western style breakfast available but we chose Japnese breakfast. The place is in the magic location it was comfortable, clean, the onsen was ok and there were private facilities as well.

Hotel is near Kappa-bashi bridge. Owner speak english very well. You should book in advance when autumn is coming.

“Nestled in the mountains”
Kamikochi is famous in Japan for its mountain vistas, hiking and lodges. Nishi-itoya is a landmark building located near the Kappabashi Bridge, an easy walk from the bus terminal. Its alpine architecture hides the fact that a comfortable Japanese ryokan lurks inside. The spacious rooms overlook the river with Japanese maples framing the view. Beautiful multi course meals are a great addition although not cheap. The changeable weather at Kamikochi meant we always had a cosy retreat to watch the weather play out around us.
