We had a very lovely stay with Sumi+Mal. They are incredibly friendly and the location and rooms are very nice. Every morning we got a different delicious breakfast and the beaches are very beautiful and the area very nice to explore. 🌞

The kindness of this family and the room was perfect! Even without ac, the fan was enough and we slept so well! The location is perfect if you want peace and avoid busy city centre! Its just 5 minutes from polhena beach, a beautiful quiet place. We loved our staying!

“First time I’m disappointed on Booking.”

They were fully booked and gave me the garden room. I only realised after a couple of hours that there were bugs on the bed, and hair in the sink. I tried to have a conversation with the owners but they didn’t handle it very well, worried about the money and the reviews. I gave them money and left for another place. Be mindful of the noise and mosquitoes in that room.

“Goergous stay with a loving family!”

This homestay is run by a kind and loving family Sumi and Mal, and their cute husky Shane! The property is really beautiful, you’re staying in the upstairs and there is a shared veranda outside surrounded by trees and noises of nature! The breakfast was substantial, tasty and a nice touch. Sumi prepared a fish dinner for us one night and it was some of the best food I’ve eaten. The location is great too near to the beach and town shops. I do really recommend this place for your stay in Matara.

“Wonderful Sri Lankan guesthouse”

We had a great stay at this guesthouse. Sumi, the owner, was very welcoming and super friendly, she introduced us to her charming family and beautiful daughter. Sumi made us feel at home and nothing was too much trouble for her. We ate a simple but tasty breakfast on the balcony overlooked by banana trees and listened to the birdsong. We chose to eat at the guesthouse on the evening and enjoyed a delicious homecooked Sri Lankan fish dish which we thoroughly enjoyed. We highly recommend this guesthouse, we totally enjoyed our stay.

The place was clean and well-maintained. It was peaceful and undisturbed throughout my stay, which made it even more relaxing. The owner was kind, responsive, and clearly cares about providing a great experience.

Not well communication, ceiling all mouldy. And had a cockroach in the bathroom.

We had a wonderful stay with Summi and Mal. The house is very large and very beautiful. The room is very pleasant and above all there is a magnificent terrace where we had breakfasts and dinners. The food prepared by Mal is very good and very plentiful. We were welcomed by a very warm family and it was very pleasant to chat in the evening with Sara, Chathmi and Mal. In short, you understand, we highly recommend this address. I forgot to say that the family rented us a scooter during our stay for an extremely reasonable price. We were able to explore the entire region. Early in the morning we went swimming with the turtles. It's a wonderful memory. In short, you can go there without hesitation.

Good location, small cute place to stay, friendly family. It’s possible to get AC/room for 2000Rs per night. Around the house is very green, so relaxing.

We were guests at Sumi and Mal’s home and we enjoyed it. They offer delicious breakfast, dinner and tea. I liked the garden with birds right in front of the balcony. Check out the craftwork Sumi makes herself. Location is great - close to the beach, close to a pharmacy, shop and some restaurants.

“A home away from home”

Sumi and Mal are amazing hosts and made us feel like home since the first moment we arrived. We were supposed to stay 3 nights but ended up staying over 2 weeks. Breakfast and dinners Sumi and Mal cooked were super delicious and we got to eat dinners also with their friends and family. I am glad we found a Sri Lankan family from Polhena. Room was spotless and was also cleaned during our stay. Location was excellent, close to main road and Polhena / Madiha beaches.
