“AMAZING, AMAZING, AMAZING”
Such a fabulous little hotel in the most gorgeous setting. Of everywhere we stayed in Costa Rica, Matapalo was our absolute favourite – and this hotel was just perfect for it. It’s a stone’s throw from the ocean, yet tucked away from the road, so you get the best of both worlds: easy beach access and total tranquillity. The pool and facilities are beautiful, and we completely adored our room – stylish, comfortable and thoughtfully done. What made it truly magical, though, was the wildlife. George the resident sloth was there throughout our stay, giving us incredible close-up views, and monkeys played in the surrounding trees. It felt like something out of a nature documentary. The beach itself is stunning, and the restaurants in the village are fantastic – relaxed, friendly and serving amazing food. This is our little Costa Rica secret… so please don’t tell everyone. But if you do, make sure you stay here.

Very clean, deep swimming pool, beautiful garden, comfortable outdoor private kitchenette, very close to one of the most beautiful beaches. Very nice manager always trying to help. Good breakfast included. Wild animals around. Absolutely beautiful sunrises and sunsets on the beach

“So fabulous and relaxing”
Breakfast was delicious and there were lots of options. The owners were so nice and accommodating, they spoke Spanish to us but slowly so we could try and understand, which was great because we were trying to practice our Spanish. The accommodation was super close to the beach which there were not many people so it was great. There was also a sloth named George in the tree out the front which was an awesome suprise! Overall a great stay!

“Super place by the beach”
Great place with a lovely pool. Very close to the fantastic beach. Breakfast was great. All the staff were very friendly. Would have loved to stay longer.

“Amazing location + lovely hotel/stuff”
Amazing location a minutes walk from a beautiful undeveloped beach in sleepy Matapalo. We had the most wonderful experience on arrival. Almost instantly we saw an Iguana on the roof of the neighbouring room. A capuchin monkey did too and chased the Iguana around the roof before the Iguana jumped off into a hedge! Going downstairs we then saw two slothes in the trees, before heading to the beach and seeing a troop of 50+ monkeys. Was our best nature experience in Costa Rica!! Lovely large room with good facilities too. Highly recommended

“Cozy lodge close to peaceful beach and animals”
Cozy lodge close to the sandy beach with few people - good for morning runs and a sundown swim. Well kept, clean. Swimming pool with lights at night. Outdoor showers. Great breakfast served from 7 am. Host showed us a sloth in a tree by the parking which we followed the two days we stayed. We also saw 10 red macaws in the tree right outside. We managed to understand each other with the little Spanish I know and his good gesturing. We had a private balcony which was great in the hot humid climate. A kitchen at the room was well equipped for cooking. Refrigerator available.

“Best kept secret - wonderful place!”
This place is a true gem. In a tiny village (3 restaurants, 1 convenience store) close to Manuel Antonio NP is this small scale hotel with a large pool area. We stayed in a very large apartment with beautiful wooden floors and lots of windows. Everything is kept nice and clean and is decorated with care. Staff is lovely and helpful eg the gardener went out of his way to point out the abundant wildlife in the lovely garden and surrounding greenery. Opposite the hotel is an amazing kilometers long stretch of pristine beach with hardly a soul on it. Best of all though where the animals that visit the hotel. We had a mum & baby sloth in the tree next to the pool which we could observe up close all day, saw a raccoon, lots of birds and iguana’s. And monkeys were swinging from the roof outside our windows in the morning. Would warmly recommend this hotel!

There was someone to meet us on arrival. The house was clean and welcoming, lots of wildlife including George the resident sloth, a family of Capuchin monkeys. And various lizards around the pool.

Casa Aba Matapalo is a realy nice place to stay for few days. It's located in beautiful garden with monkeys jumping above your head and a sloth hidden in a palm tree.The beach os just few steps away.

“We felt like home”
i would recommend this to friends! very calm . sloths and birds and a perfect beach you need a car - norhing in proxinity other than a small supermarket but with car an excellent base to discover Manuel antonio , Dominical and Uvita we travelled in december and saw ripley turtles hacth from the hacthery 400 meter from this place super laundry service

“An absolutely incredible sunset with the Sun dipping into the sea”
It was really quiet, there was parking outside, and it was a very quick walk to the beach. The beach was gorgeous with amazing sunsets. The property has a really lovely pool and greenery. Very welcoming staff. There’s one shot and a very good restaurant a short walk away. The area also has loads of scarlet macaws which was a massive bonus
