Hidden among the jungle, surrounded by greenery and wildlife, the property has something special — a peaceful energy that’s hard to explain but impossible to forget. Every corner is decorated with exquisite taste, making it feel unique, personal, and deeply connected to nature. He even designed his own Sri Lankan steam bath in the on-site spa, where he gives incredible massages himself — an experience that completes the feeling of total escape. The owners Sarath and his wife Deepthi could not have been better hosts. It’s rare you come across such warmth. Sarath was helpful with finding me a local guide to do a hike. He picked me up from the road as it’s hard for my driver to find. I had 2 delicious Sri Lankan dinners and breakfasts cooked by Deepthi. A tour of the spice garden. A cooking demo. And I was only there a day! Huge comfy bed. Clean facilities. If you are looking for some where off the beaten path to relax and meet great people I highly recommend plantation retreat. We had the most wonderful and unexpected surprise staying at Plantation Retreat with Mr. Sarath Ellepola and his wife. Although our stay was just one night, it was truly memorable. Mr. Sarath personally showed us around the spice plantation, sharing his knowledge and stories, which made the visit so special. Dinner was absolutely lovely, and my girlfriend really enjoyed the relaxing massage treatment. What stood out most was the warmth and care of this amazing couple. They pay attention to every little detail, making us feel genuinely welcomed. We also shared great conversations and were even given a thoughtful gift, which touched us deeply. This has been the best place we’ve stayed in Sri Lanka so far, and we will definitely come back. A heartfelt thank you to Mr. Sarath and his wife for such a beautiful and memorable experience!

Sarath and his wife Deepthi are the most delightful hosts. We had a wonderful time staying in their beautiful home in the jungle. We had a steam massage (highly recommended) and Sarath took us for walks around his spice plantation. It’s a beautiful place to unwind and chill, and you are looked after so well. Deepthi’s cooking is amazing. Wish we could have stayed longer!

“Best place to stay when visiting Kandy :-)”

Book this place when you wish to see many things in and around Kandy! The owners went the extra mile to make me super happy. He is a safe driver who showed me many places per day in his comfortable car and she cooked fantastic meals for me with fresh herbs and spices out of their own ‘jungle’. They are a lovely and honest family, the best hosts during my world-travel :-) Also: the place is a gem in the mountains, beautiful decorated and with a clean pool. I felt really at home here.

Sarath and his family are the most welcoming and amiable hosts we had on our journey in Sri Lanka. The lodging is on top of a hill and inside a plantation so you are all surrounded by beautiful nature. As part of the plantation Sarath and his family are growing their own coffee and spices from which Sarath's wife cooked a most delicious breakfast and dinner. We enjoyed our stay at Plantation Retreat very much and will never forget the welcoming and relaxed atmosphere. We can very much recommend a stay here.
