The breakfast was very tasty, with different options every day. Contrary to what some other guests had mentioned the internet was very good and worked well in the room. It did go off for twenty minutes once but overall was very strong. Candida is a charming and very friendly woman and a proud Nicaraguan, all of which made it a delightful stay. The location might appear to be a con but in my opinion was a pro. A five or ten minute walk into the centre but in a little corner of the city without traffic whizzing around the streets, so it was quiet and calm.

The owner was so friendly and full of knowledge and recommendations not just for Matagalpa, but for all the places I was going to in Nicaragua. Really pleasant stay off the usual gringo trail.

Candida, the owner, is a very nice lady, always eager to talk and give recommendations. Everything that she recommended, from the places to the restaurants, was well chosen. The room was good, and the position is not too far from the center of Matagalpa.

It was a great place so comfortable and clean. The lady owner a very nice and warm person. She also helped me cook .very kind.it is a little far from the centre but it is a nice walk.

The host is lovely. Place is clean and good value for the price.

The room was a good size and comfortable. The private bathroom was a good size. The staff were very nice. They allowed me to park motorbike inside for the night.

After travelling for 10 months non stop, this would have to have been one of the most warm and homely feels I’ve had this far. Thank you Candida, you really made it feel like I was with my mum enjoying dinner and breakfast with you. Very helpful with ideas and directions around matagalpa and a very nice safe neighbourhood. Loved it.

“A very friendly place”

Very sweet place ! Candida is an excellent host that took care of us from day one ! You can have breakfast at hers for about 2$ even though the kitchen is off limits to cook. The room was spacious with our own bathroom and very clean. Even though it’s a homestay, you’re totally autonomous with your own key. We learned a lot from the region thanks to our host, she knows everything (anecdotes and useful info such as which bus to take and where). We’d definitely stay again !!

The lady host is very kind and helpful. We loved the small balcony to enjoy breakfast and watch the quiet street with the mountains on the back ground. Matagalpa is a nice town for a few days. Worth taking the bus direction Jinotega and get off at Selva Negra. In real the accommodation is better than on the photos in booking.com

The owner is super nice and helped us answering all the questions we had about the things to do around and how to get there by bus

“Improve communication”

At least they did not charge after not waiting on my arrival.

The gas station was really close, ATMs nearby, the supermarket very close and parks too. You get a key to open your bedroom and you get a key to open the house main door whenever you want. We got a fan inside the bedroom

Candida is a very caring and sweet host. Has a lot of ideas what to do and hiw to get there, especially by bus. Room was big and confy. Nice matress.

“Feels like coming home”

We had an amazing stay here! The host is so kind and open. And funny as well:) She helped us with the activities in the neighborhood and had good food recommendations. She also makes delicious breakfasts. The neighborhood is nice as well with kids playing on the streets and little foodstores. The rooms are good as well: nice and clean. We had a great time here!

“Very warm and welcoming”

Everything as you would have expected from "homestay" and more. The owner was extremely nice and welcoming and helped me a lot more than expected with planning my travels. Gave advices, made sure I know how to get anywhere and when, even made lists when she wasn't sure I got her. Also all meals are served at a very fair price.

Had a lovely stay. The hosts are wonderful and so helpful. Easy to get to Selva Negra from here with public buses. My bed was comfy and I slept well!
