“Get the Japanese style room, it’s the coziest!”
Yuriko-san is amazing hostess and you owe it to yourself and/or family to spend a good portion of time here. The quietude is priceless. Yuriko-san’s breakfast? Gorgeous. The hostess has a skill for cultivating family. Take some time here, you will be better for it.

Although the place was a bit remote, Yuriko was very kind and generous. She picked us up and drove us around so we could go where we wanted. She was also generous in sharing her hospitality, fed us amazing breakfasts and tried hard to communicate with us. K

“An absolute gem of a place”
This honestly felt like a home away from home. This is a super unique Japanese homestay, nestled in the countryside of Mashiko. The house is beautiful and charming, and you feel like you are staying at an aunt’s house. The surrounding areas are beautiful. The sleeping area was so comfortable, futon on tatami mats and the duvet and pillows were clean and crisp and comfortable, I had such a lovely sleep. The breakfast is a breakfast of champs - so healthy, delicious and nourishing and it kept me full for ages. But the thing that made this so special was the host - Yuriko is a fantastic host, she was so kind and caring and I honestly felt like I’d known her for years. I only spent one night at the property but the minute I got there, I wished I could stay for longer! Lifts to and from town were kindly offered, Yuriko even took me to the supermarket to buy snacks and a bentobox for dinner which was an experience in itself! She was so kind and showed me the museums and Indigo dyeing house on my last day. The outside bathtub was such a treat as well. As a solo traveller, being with her in her home made me feel so comforted. Thank you for my ceramic cup, I will cherish it forever and always remember the beautiful house and the even more beautiful company. I hope to be back one day soon, maybe in time for the Mashiko pottery fair.

A home away from home, Yuriko went extra miles to make guests comfortable, we are like an old friend of hers and not a guest. I stayed there for five nights and felt so sad when I had to leave, would definitely come back some day!

“Our first visit to Mashiko exceeded our expectations made all the better by Yuriko, our host.”
Yuriko was a fantastic host, making a delicious breakfast and acting as both a guide to the potteries and a giving us lifts in and out of town.

“Nice rural B & B”
The host is very kind and helpful. The (Japanese) breakfast was good, including the coffee. The host went out of her way to collect me, give advice, and deposit me where I wanted to go to enjoy a visit to Mashiko and the Shoji Hamada Museum etc.

“Wonderful stay in a traditional countryside home.”
A beautiful traditional home filled with lovely ceramics. The home cooked breakfast was delicious and we enjoyed our mornings overlooking the garden. When we arrived Yuriko kindly collected us from the station and ran us a hot bath in the outside Onsen. Ooka Kanehisa was very kind and took us to visit his friends pottery studio and to the sake brewery, indigo dye house and museum. We really enjoyed our stay and hope to visit again!
