What a little gem!! A quaint little house with a stunning bedroom and bathroom. It was like our own lsuite within the most beautifully restored village house. A wonderful, knowledgeable and friendly host...would highly recommend!

We love Christopher’s eclectic style and the beautiful way he has created this unique little haven. He cooked us a great meal served in his cosy dining room. Great breakfast followed next morning… We are on a 5 week journey and La Grenouille Noire is one of only a handful of stand out stays that we would return to - thank you!

The whole experience was great. Christopher was the consummate host - warm, responsive, flexible, laid back. He is truly a 'hospitality personality' and works hard to make his guests feel welcome, comfortable and at ease. Our room was lovely - retro chic style in keeping with the old and interesting property - of historical significance in the lovely village. It was spacious, comfortable and clean. Extras like the tea/coffee, squidgy big sofa, lightweight bed cover and extra pillows were really appreciated. The parking adjacent to the Chambre d'Hote seemed safe and well maintained. We noted that motorbikes were also catered for which was a bonus for our fellow guests. The piece de resistance was the delicious evening meal prepared by Christopher. Everything was homemade from scratch using quality ingredients. Aperitifs, starter, main, dessert, wine and coffee/tea for 28 euro - a steal. Highly recommend contacting Christopher in advance to ensure your place at this wonderful table d'hote and to avoid disappointment as he needs prior notice.

From the moment I arrived to the minute I left I was so welcome, so well-looked after. Christopher and Damien - and the three beautiful cats that live there - were exceptional hosts. The rooms and building are stunning, quirky, interesting and utterly unique. My room was spotless, the bed comfortable and the complementary toiletries in the bathroom were a lovely touch (and smelled divine). I had a delicious dinner and breakfast too - I only stayed less than 24 hours but left feeling like I’d had the most lovely stay with good friends. Can’t wait to come back!

Lovely homely welcome and the way the property was being brought back to life whilst keeping a lot of original features and handwork by the owner. History of the building was amazing. Very comfortable and evening meal and breakfast were exceptional, very tasty and plentiful with local produce used where possible and brilliant value.

Great host. Huge room on first floor with lots of character. Very clean. Lovely view of the village form the windows. Comfy bed. Lounge in room. Tea and coffee in room. Bathroom was large and adequate. Parking available. We booked an evening meal, which Christopher cooked for us and it was absolutely fabulous. A 3 course meal with wines of our choice. It was a really lovely evening and I wish we could have stayed longer.

“Beautiful and relaxing”

We stopped for 1 night on our way to Spain. Location is very good in the heart of a small village overlooking the church. Christopher and Damien were extremely accommodating and made us feel welcome. We had dinner & breakfast, everything was deliciously prepared with local products and beautifully presented. The room was spacious and well equipped with an adjacent room for our daughter. Everything we needed for our stay was available and although the house isn't entirely renovated, the finished areas are splendid with lots of character.
