Situated in Manzanares, 2 km off the A-4 Motorway, Castillo De Pilas Bonas is a 13th-century fortress restored into a small hotels that preserves the original architectural elements and its Medieval feel. “Very uncomfortable for a wheelchair user.”
Booked and confirmed in advance a wheelchair-accessible room. On arrival, staff were unaware of the requirement and said the bedrooms were unsuitable (in lofts, up stairs). They could provide a bed on the ground floor, using a sofa bed. It was too small and uncomfortable and it occupied most of the lower room, making it extremely difficult to unpack suitcases etc. Movement around the hotel was largely on crazy paving floors, which are very uncomfortable for someone in pain in a wheelchair. Hotel is probably very good for non-disabled people, but wheelchair users should avoid it.

“Castle stay with modern features”
This place is an incredible example of combination of sensitive tourism and history. I think they have done a great job in renovating to contemporary modern standards while preserving historic charm. Restaurant and wine selection also spot on

“Fabulous! I’ll never forget it!”
Just staying in such an ancient building was amazing! I noticed that some reviews found the two-story layout of the units to be awkward (bedroom upstairs, bathroom downstairs), but we didn’t have a problem with this. The staff were charming. Parking was simple. We had the simple Spanish breakfast which was included in the price of the room (you can pay more for a fancier breakfast), and even that was above standard.

“A night in a castle”
Great way to keep an historical building! Lovely room and good food. We stayed only for one night in the middle of a storm, and the start was super helpful and friendly.

Not really much . Main restaurant was closed, no English menu, outside area had no chairs or umbrellas, it had bedroom upstairs and very small bathroom downstairs.

“Romantic, an inn in a castle”

Wonderful staying in a castle. Professional friendly staff. Must amazing beef shank to share for dinner in onsite restaurant.
