Overview
Located 25 km from Malkerns, Wide Horizons Mountain Retreat is set up in the majestic Makungutsha Mountains. The lodge offers rooms, cottages and tented accommodation. A terrace is available on site and cycling can be enjoyed within close proximity of the accommodation. Wide Horizons is off the beaten track on a rural gravel road. High clearance vehicles are advised, although sedans can reach us with careful navigation.

“One of my most amazing stays ever”
The place was absolutely stunning. What an amazing property with the wildebeest and zebras right on the property. The staff washed my car without being asked the caretaker of the whole place is the friendliest woman enjoyed every minute I spent there.

“Arrive stressed and tired, leave refreshed and alive.”
Peaceful, tranquillity, beautiful views,walks , no TV . Silent other than sounds of the birds. Felt safe . Rock pool ,accomodation . Outdoor shower ,bath and toilet getting back to nature. Full onsuite bathroom inside as well. Meditation but to sit and reflect on your life . The staff friendly and helpful when needed. Prayer rock to sit in silence and watch sunrise or have coffee and chill. The various trails and wildlife .

Great location with fantastic views. Attentive staff. Good hiking in the vicinity. Good and game birdwatching . Good location to break away from it all. We will definitely be back.

“A true retreat”

“A great relaxing place with friendly staff.”
The lodge is stunningly situated and ideal for a perfect rest. If you are however planning on exploring the country, Wide Horizons is about an hours' drive away from tar roads with no shops, filling stations etc in the near vicinity. I however, loved it.

Amazing view from the cabin (basically from the bed too). Outdoor shower was fun. Very friendly staff. Great hikes in the surroundings (especially the Summit trail), well maintained, marked perfectly on google maps.
