“Lovely homestay option with ocean view:)”

The room was clean, modern and comfortable with a balcony with beautiful ocean view, also has air conditioning and wifi, Mareeya and her family are very kind hosts, delicious home cooked meals available on request- some of my favourite meals in the Philippines so far! Located about 20 mins from Peter’s dive resort by scooter- I really enjoyed my stay here:)

Cutest Family ever!! Food and Room was amazing!!

Everything is perfect. The wonderful welcome and caring of the host, Mareeyah, the very scenic view from the room, the high quality of the room, furniture and decoration. The motorbike rental also.... Even traveling solo, you dont feel alone.... The coral reef just in front is amazing of good shape and very nice, which is quite seldom nowadays...

Portofino Homestay was amazing. Mareeya was an incredible host who went above and beyond to welcome us into her space. For example both nights we stayed Mareeya asked what we would like for dinner and she would go to the local market to buy fresh ingredients, best food we’ve had in the Philippines! I have a severe peanut allergy and Mareeya made me feel very comfortable when eating, as she cooked all our food from scratch and was really aware of the impact of my allergy, which can be rare in Asia. Breakfast was also amazing, loads to choose from and again made fresh just for us, all home cooked. The pictures don’t do the beauty of the space justice, such a nice location and homely feel. You can rent a scooter directly from here and ride around southern Leyte. If you are coming to this area for whale shark watching in Padre Burgos, you can stay here and access the dive resorts on the bike Mareeya rents (it’s not too far, about 15 mins). We didn’t know this and we booked to stay at the dive resort where we were doing the whale shark trip, but wish we didn’t! If we had known, we would have spent the whole time at Mareeyas place. The room was relatively basic but had everything you would need and was clean. The view from the room was also incredible, directly out to the ocean.

I booked a room that said I had breakfast included. But when I left I was asked to pay 300 pesos because I had asked for bacon.

Staying at Portofino Homestay felt like being welcomed into a family. The place is super clean, modern, and has an amazing view of the sea. But the real highlight? Maria, the host. She’s such a warm and wonderful person, always up for a nice chat, and her cooking is out of this world! We’re still dreaming about her pumpkin with beans in coconut milk—so delicious. She also rents out scooters, which made exploring the area really easy. And with Sogod Bay right at the doorstep, the location couldn’t be better. Honestly, it was more than just a stay—it was an experience. We loved every moment!

Portofino Homestay is an absolute gem! From the moment we arrived, Mareeya welcomed us with such kindness and care, making us feel at home right away. She went above and beyond to ensure we had everything we needed, from travel tips to delicious home-cooked meals. The homestay itself is peaceful, clean, and beautifully maintained, offering a perfect place to relax. It’s right by the beach, the room is big and comfortable, the shower is great and has hot water. Woke up seeing the sunrise from my bed! If you're looking for an authentic and welcoming experience in Leyte, this is the place to stay. Highly recommend!

The room was big and spacious well equipt .the owner and family were very accommodating with service and meals.did some snorkelling as well nice fish.the WiFi worked most of the time pretty well.the pool was nice as well.

There is a lot of attention to detail at Portofino. Mareeya, Craig and her family couldn't have made us feel more welcome. Everything you could wish for in the room from adaptor plugs to an umbrella if it's raining! It's right by the sea and you have breakfast overlooking Sogod Bay. Swimming pool also! Would recommend to anyone. We shall return!

“Homestay and never leave....”

What a wonderful and pleasant stay we had with Maria and her son. The welcoming was as if you would come home. Beautiful views from the balcony over the bay and the surroundings. Big, deep, and very clean pool. Great bed, nice, thick, and comfy. Great AC! Good bathroom with warm shower, not that powerful, but if you stayed in the Philippines before you know that high waterpressure isn't a guarantee and we found it sufficient enough. Big TV, although we didn't use it, because we had a great and honest conversation with Maria the rest of the evening. Great breakfast in the morning, with a beautiful view. It was a pity that we booked another hotel, or else we definitely stayed longer...

This stay was amazing and we were only there for one night. The location is stunning right on the water and our host went out of her way to make sure we were well looked after. If you heading to south Leyte I couldn’t recommend staying here enough

“Excellent”

Everything about the stay was exceptional. The accomodation has a private beach that can be seen literally from the bed. It has all the facilities and the staff is really kind and attentive at all times. Worth mentioning the great food they prepare. Everything was very good and tasty, so we did not even bother in finding other locations to eat. Thanks Maria and family for the nice stay😊
