“Great stay at - Villa Atlas – Malapascua”
I stayed at Villa Atlas during my time on Malapascua and overall had a very positive experience. The accommodation is quite basic, but that is reflected in the price, and for what you pay it’s absolutely fair. I felt very comfortable during my stay. All of the staff were incredibly friendly and helpful — they always greeted me with a smile and were happy to assist whenever I needed anything. Regarding the breakfast, even though there are some negative comments online, I personally only had good experiences. I received breakfast every day without any issues. You just need to ask politely, and it’s no problem at all. One highlight of my room was the balcony with a hammock — it was a lovely spot to relax and unwind after diving or exploring the island. The walk to the Atlas dive center was very convenient — only about 2–3 minutes on foot, which made heading out for dives super easy. Overall, a pleasant stay at a good value place with friendly staff and a great location.

“Villa-Atlas Guest House is guaranteed to lighten up your trip in Malapascua! It did for me!”
The thing I liked the most about the property were the staff! They allowed me to feel at home as a solo traveller through the connections I made with them! They were always around to provide me with delicious food and all the services I needed during my stay. My bed was comfortable in the double deluxe room, and I felt my room had the necessities I needed. The balcony was a beautiful place to relax and unwind with hammocks and a coastal view.

“Disappointing - the so called good vibes have long since vanished”
Wouldn't recommend, the only accommodation I stayed at in the Philippines that had No free drinking water - they had installed a coin meter on the water so you had to pay per cup. I asked about free drinking water and was told you get free drinking water only if you buy a meal. There is a kitchen with a 'feel free to use kitchen' sign on the wall but they have removed all kitchen appliances, so no cooktop, pots, pans, plates, cutlery etc. all the lockers in the dorms are broken so you can't secure your valuables. They also charged walk ins 500php (as of May 2025) but offer cheaper rates on booking - but still overcharge walk-ins. There are a few hostels on Malapascua offering dorms for 350php so look around. Also bathrooms continually flooded and not cleaned. They also charged for hot water whilst having a kettle on view in the bar kitchen...On the plus side there are good chillout spots and hammocks but all the so called good vibes are now superficial and have been replaced with higher prices, an empty kitchen and a coin operated 'free' water cooler... Would stay somewhere else - also the associated dive shop is among the more expensive on the island and offers no discounted rate for hostel guest and/or no discounted rate on the hostel if your diving with them (unless you are doing a full course) so there is no advantage to diving with them - shop around guys, I paid over 2000php less for a 6 dive package with another operator. Enjoy Malapascua, find a better hostel

“The rooms aren’t clean”
We’ve been travelling for 6 months and the rooms here were some of the worst we’ve stayed in. We had an en suite that clearly hadn’t ever been cleaned, it had bug/lizard poo everywhere. The bedroom was in a tiny cosy spot and they had a mosquito net that didn’t properly cover the bed with holes in. When we asked to change rooms they told us we weren’t allowed to even though there was no one in the room next door. We would have left if we hadn’t already paid for our stay in full. The only reason this didn’t score lower is because the social area was great and really relaxing to chill in. It was also in a good location and the divers school they are associated with are incredible. It’s a shame the rest of the hostel lets this place down.

“Unbeatable experience in traveler's paradise”
Villa Atlas in Malapascua Island is a cozy retreat in the heart of the city (felt like home away from home!): the location is unbeatable, friendly vibes, and a welcoming community. Highly recommend. The place is comfortable, clean, and social, the hostel is a traveler’s paradise, I created amazing memories here, thanks to the perfect blend of comfort and fun. The staff made all the difference, all kind and very chill person. Finally I can tell that this place is truly a gem for backpackers 😁
