Overview
Set right on the palm-tree beach of Makry Gialos, Artemis offers studios and apartments with private balconies and free Wi-Fi access. “perfect stay”
the location was amazing! right at the beach, privacy included. the place was not crowded as it was the last week of the season. sea water was good for bath and perfect for small children. the kima restaurant was the best.

“Welcoming staff and excellent location”
Excellent staff who were most helpful on arrival. We only stayed a couple of nights so probably can’t do Artemis justice; we didn’t eat in the restaurant or use the facilities.

Makry Gialos is a wonderfully small resort on the South coast, East of Irepetra. The Artemis hotel is a self catering facility however the prices in the restaurant were so reasonable that it's almost not worth catering for yourself. We went to the farmers market to purchase some fresh fruit and veg, so we did end up making a lunchtime salad for two days but this was mainly so that we could use the beach and have lunch when we felt like it. The staff were amazing, Panogiotis, ( Pano) , Pepi,( Despina) Giorgos and Maria were so hard working and genuinely interested with their enthusiasm and friendliness shining through. To my immense shame, I do not know the daytime restaurant waiter, or the lady who looked after our accommodation,( she was so much more than a cleaner) but suffice it to say that they were so very happy and friendly as well . I have never felt so welcomed and important as these people make you feel. The accommodation was clean and comfortable with the renovations being very impressive indeed. We had a ground floor appartment and I initially thought that I would have liked a higher floor but I am not so sure. In the ground floor appartments you are literally 20 metres from the beach 'as the crow flies' and no more than 50 metres, from the beach, following the path. We did have a look at a higher floor appartment and the view was less obstructed by the palms and cedar trees but I still think that the ground floor accommodation had better access to the beach so I think that downstairs won in the end. The beach is lovely. Sandy, gently sloping and good for all ranges of swimming ability. The Artemis restaurant was amazing. The food is superb and the prices are unbelievable, compared to the more expensive North coast!! Those cooks/ chefs turned out fabulous dishes and I would defy anyone to find such food at the same price anywhere in Crete. I am looking forward to returning so much.

The location is brilliant, right on the beach. The fact that there is a hotel bar (more of a restaurant) is very good. The staff were friendly and we were allowed to stay past our reserve slot as we have a baby and we were allowed to keep the room for extra hours which was tremendously helpful.
