We had the most amazing time at Moonhut Bungalows, couldn't have wished for anything more. The family bungalow was perfect, with it effectively being 2 adjoining bungalows there were 2 bathrooms between the 4 of us and plenty of space. The rooms were cleaned daily with fresh towels and water etc, there was a kettle and large fridge also. The onsite restaurant was delicious, we loved started each day eating banana pancakes looking out over that beautiful beach. There were other restaurants along the beach that were also lovely, the next one along lent out SUP boards if you bought drinks or food there - the guy there was so lovely. Also have the options of 7/11 up on the main road for bits and toasted sarnies etc for a cheap eat. Mae Nam is a quieter more laid back beach on Koh Samui, we took a taxi over to the busier areas which were great to spend some time in and then head back to our slice of paradise. Also highly recommend hiring a driver for a few hours to go on a drive around the island, we used Mr Pi who charged 500baht an hour. He took us all around the island, make sure to travel up to a high point on the island - well worth the drive up for the spectacular views. But mainly, all you need to do here is relax and savour every single second, it will forever be a special place for us and our kids and we hope to return one day!

“Great staff, great location, great food”

I can't recommend Moonhut Bungalows enough. We stayed in the family bungalow, which was fresh and perfect for our family of 4 but could easily fit a larger family. The beach is beautifully calm, starts shallow for kids and goes a deeper further on for swimmers. The restaurant has a huge selection (including great Thai food - we stayed a week and we didn't feel the need to go anywhere else). Great selection of board games to be played in the beachfront tent table, or in the evenings, and there's a pool table as well. Plenty of beach yous for the kids (our little ones are 2 and 4.5) The best thing was the staff, they are fun and friendly and the kids absolutely loved them - this includes KitKat the most patient cat in the world, but especially CoCo and Honey who managed to get a smile out of the kids even when they were hungry or tired! Jen is also extremely helpful and prompt in answering, and helped us book a super nice ethical elephant sanctuary tour and with transport. The location is also great, far enough from the main street that it feels secluded and there's plenty of birds to be heard and seen, but shops and restaurants are in walking distance (and a pram can go on the road). Great 2nd hand clothes shop nearby as well if you have packed light!

Lovely rustic beach huts alongside the beach. Very natural and relaxed. Loved the veranda. Property cleaned daily. Tea/coffee facilities plus a fridge with water topped up daily. Choice of air con or fan. Perfect.

“Little hidden gem”

I love moonhut and are coming back for more than 6 years. The location and its chill vibe is something really special. The attached restaurant always delivers (even a bit pricy but worth it ).

I absolutely loved everything about this place. I have been to thailand about 15 times stayed in 5X, 4X every star but moonhut by far is just perfect.

The location was amazing, right in the beach. Air conditioning was great. Friendly staff helped with transfers.

“Perfect Stay Perfect Host”

We had a fantastic stay at Moonhut Bungalow in Samui. Our budget beach hut was lovely—simple, comfortable, and just steps from a beautiful, quiet stretch of beach. The location was perfect: peaceful but still within a short beach walk to other great bars and restaurants. A special thank you to Jane, who was an amazing host from start to finish. She went above and beyond to help us with everything during our stay. She arranged excursions for us at prices cheaper than booking online, organised taxis to and from the hotel, helped us book the boat to our next island, and sorted motorbike hire while we were there. It made the whole trip so much easier. What really stood out was how helpful and available she was—throughout our stay she was always at the end of the phone if we needed anything. That level of care and hospitality really made a difference. The restaurant was also lovely, and the beach was quiet and beautiful. Overall we couldn’t have asked for more and would definitely recommend staying here.

“Cute hideaway”

It was a really cute cabin on the beach. Next to a resturant, massage cabin and sunbathing spot. The sea is only 20m away. I will be back.

“Beautiful bungalows right on the beach”

We had a lovely stay here in family bungalow for 8 nights. The bungalow was right on the beach and walking distance to the shops and 7-11. The restaurant on site has lots of food options and there are a few other nice places on the beach if you are looking for variety. The room also had a TV with Netflix which was a nice addition to put on a movie in the evenings.
