“Smelly”

Extremely disappointing stay. We had specifically booked and paid upfront before check-in for a premium river view room with an extra-large bed, only to be placed in Room 107, which smelt strongly of damp and mould the moment we walked in. There was already an atomiser running in the room, which gave the impression management were aware of the issue and attempting to mask the smell rather than resolve it. Visible mould around the bathroom sealant only reinforced the concern. We raised this immediately with reception. The receptionist was lovely and genuinely tried to help, even offering to have the room cleaned, but this was clearly not a cleaning issue — no amount of cleaning was going to resolve such a strong damp/mould smell. He said he would raise it with management, yet management did absolutely nothing: no room move, no meaningful response, no acknowledgement and no goodwill gesture despite charging premium prices. Having since read other reviews mentioning the same smell issue, this appears to be an ongoing problem management are aware of but continue to ignore. Once they have your money upfront, customer care seems to disappear. We were not looking for compensation, simply the clean, fresh room we had paid for.

Location is great and compared to the other alternatives, it's one of the best on town. lobby picture is nice but rooms are not that nice.

We had the pleasure of celebrating my birthday in this hotel and we were upgraded to a river view suite which was a really lovely gesture from the staff. They also picked up our luggage from another hotel that we stayed in the previous night,so when we checked after our MP tour , our stuff was already in our room. The breakfast was one of the best we've had as there were a lot of choices. Victor Hugo( what a name😊),from reception was such a lively chap to talk to always smiling and could not do enough for us, he even helped us with our luggages in going to the train station (it was all uphill)

The location was very easy to reach from the train station and onwards to Machu Picchu/other attractions. The staff were very helpful. The breakfast view of the river was good.

“This hotel does not justify its price; I recommend seeking alternative accommodations.”

1. No slippers provided in the room. 2. The sink faucet splashes and leaks. 3. The electrical outlet adjacent to the bed was non-functional. 4. Inadequate soundproofing. 5. My husband and I experienced food poisoning following breakfast (likely due to the omelet, which appeared insufficiently cooked). 6. Poor kitchen isolation resulted in odors permeating the entire hotel (e.g., a strong garlic smell in the morning).

“Great location, friendly staff”

This is a great hotel, located right by where you disembark the train after coming from Cusco. The staff are friendly and attentive, the breakfasts are great and the room we had was reasonably spacious with a view of the river right next to the hotel. You can easily walk into Machu Picchu Pueblo from here, and the bus station for Machu Picchu is literally a two minute walk away.

The location on the river is excellent. Great service and Dianna was so helpful Considering the remote location with no chains and all local hotel operators - this hotel in my opinion is very high standard and good quality for the region. Very comfortable room - bedding and pillows. River view room feels very dramatic with the rainy season and gushing river below. The noise of the Robert is strangely calming and helps you get to sleep.

Wonderful interiors, very nice, large and comfortable rooms and beds, good breakfast choice, restaurant quality was very good as well. Location is very comfortable and central, nearby good restaurants.

Right on the river and close to the train and buses. Staff were friendly and helpful meeting us at the station to help with luggage.
