The owner was fantastic, really friendly and full of great local knowledge for things to see and do. I'd go back just to hang out with the dogs if nothing else, they're fantastic. The kitchen was great, the location is great.

“Best place near los frailes”

Juan Carlos, the owner, is a wonderful man involved in lots of social enterprise projects and animal rescue. He's filled with knowledge about the local area. The room is really big, super close to the beach, and the best location for walking to Los Frailes. There are also lots of dogs on the property for cuddles or to accompany you to the beach. Bathroom is also large with good water pressure and hot water showers.

The owner is a real kind person, very helpful.

Wonderful stay with Carlos, clean and simple in a very cool beach town. Walk every where, great restaurants and friendly people. Carlos is well traveled and has many stories and ideas to share!

Meeting Carlos is like coming back to your birthplace and embracing your old friend. He's a great person with an enormous heart, strong life values and good sense of humor. This great man is a soul of this place, his wonderful dogs are its mood and warmth. Nothing else matters, when you see his smile, his relationships with the dogs, listen to his stories about nature and see how his love for life leads him to great purposes.

“Quiet nights close the beach”

The host Carlos is the nicest person ever. He gave us a lot of information about the area and activities around. Staying in Machalilla is a perfect option if you want to visit Playa de Los Frailes, Isla de la Plata or Agua Blanca etc. Rooms are really simple but staying there you also help the work Carlos does with the corals and the whole community.

Owner is friendly and he speaks english - so rare in Ecuador. His dogs are very friendly too, you can see the good owner. There was many dogs of other owners in the village, not so friendly at all. Good location as a starting point everywhere in a beautifull Machallila reserve, but maybe to close to Spondilus route, which is now more road than route.

We had a wonderful time in Guesthouse Machalilla! It's very close to beautiful Los Frailes beach and there is a lot of activities to do around the area. The owner, Carlos, was lovely, gave many useful and interesting tips and had the cutest rescued dogs. We really enjoyed spending time with him! Would recommend 100%!! Thank you so much

The host, Carlos was the best - he was friendly, full of great advice on local hikes and spoke fantastic English. He (and his lovely dogs) really made our stay in Machalilla enjoyable. The kitchen was well equipped and wi-fi strength great.

Carlos was the best person on booking i have ever met! So friendly, social, good heart! I love his love for the dogs! I love everything about guest house Machalilla!! He brought my girlfriend some tea when she wasn't feeling very well. He is sooonice!!!
