Everything!!! Darwin and his staff are excellent!!! I was there for 5 nights in February while my son climbed Illiniza and Cotopaxi. I don't climb anymore so I needed a comfortable place to wait for him to get finished. I booked initially at Tambopaxi and it is a great place too with views of Cotopaxi but a good bit more expensive- I am very glad I changed to here. The views were exceptional. Super comfortable bed! The food!!! There is no way anywhere could beat the extraordinary cuisine!!! Darwin is a first class chef!!!! So fresh and beautiful presentation!! I am very happy with my stay and would certainly recommend to anyone traveling through!!

“B&B in a great location with an amazing host that is a chef”

Lovely B&B close to the entrance to the National Park! We had great views of the mountains from our room. But the highlight of our stay was Darwin’s cooking - he’s a chef with 19 years of experience. He makes the best home meals!

Great stay at Ruta de Los Volcanes! We had a room with a great view and the staff was very welcoming and helpful. Once we heated up the place with the oven we had a cozy stay! Darwin, the chef, were serving amazing food served on a hot stone in an authentic atmosphere! The whole staff was welcoming :) We did the horse riding for three hours - Darwin brought us to the entrance of the Cotopaxi nationalpark and our guide during the horse riding, Patricio, was very welcoming, brought us to great views and we had a great tour with him! Thank you for the overall experience, we enjoyed it a lot!

“Perfect authentic stay!!!”

We absolutely LOVED our stay!!! It was so peaceful, cosy and welcoming! The room was very comfy & had good WiFi & hot water! The communal area was always toasty warm with a fire & free tea & coffee all day! We ate every meal in the restaurant & it was the best food we have had so far - was super authentic & delicious! Big thank you to Darwin who helped organise our day trip to Cotopaxi - unforgettable experience!!!

We had a delightful stay - the rooms were lovely, clean and comfortable, the common spaces very homely and the food cooked by the chef and Darwin was a true highlight of our trip! Darwin was very accommodating and helped us organise a couple of day trips and a ride to the airport. All staff incredibly lovely and courteous.

Excellent service and absolutely stunning dinner (steaks)! Recommend to stay even if just to enjoy the dinner.

“Great place to stay with very friendly staff!”

We loved our stay, which is close to the North Entrance of the Cotapaxi National Park. The room was of good size. During our stay it was a bit cold, but at night the blankets keep you very warm. So be prepared which cloth you take with you! In the restaurant is a fireplace which makes breakfast and dinner very comfortable. Compliments to chef who is preparing all the meals. Breakfast is more than enough with nicely made smoothies and scrambled eggs. Dinner the steak / chicken and soup were delicious and cheap. They arranged our horse riding trip in Cotapaxi , which was incredible beautiful! Also Juan pick us up from Quito and later on drove us for a whole day to Laguna Limpiopungo , Laguna Quilotoa and drop us in Latacunga for a reasonable price. We really enjoyed our 2 nights here.

Nice location and hospitable

This was a beautiful b&b in the countryside near Cotopaxi. I loved the views and tranquility. The family that runs it is very kind. They have a taxi service and picked me up and dropped me off in the nearby town of Machachi ($30 round trip). Breakfast was good and the food I ordered for dinner was tasty and fresh. They also offered me a free canelazo (hot drink with passion fruit and pineapple). Bring warm clothes as it is quite chilly at night even with lots of blankets on the bed.

The owner Darwin is an excellent host and gives you perfect information about Cotopaxi. Beside that he is a very good cook, try the Lomo, it is delicious!

Darwin was a super host and chef. He helped us organise a guide to take us up Cotopaxi (Patricio who also was amazing). Darwin provided great communication before we even arrived helping us get to his hotel via bus or taxi. Nice fire in the restaurant to dry off after a day of walking, hot water in the room, cozy bed Theres even a small shop opposite for any snacks

“Great knowledge, great family, great food”

My wife and I had an amazing stay at Ruta de los Volcanes. The family who run it made us feel incredibly welcome and went above and beyond to ensure we had a great experience. They were generous with their time, helping us organise trips and making sure we saw the best of the area. The food in their restaurant was fantastic. fresh, homemade and perfect after a day hiking. What made it extra special was their warmth and care. It felt more like staying with friends than at a hotel. We left with wonderful memories of Cotopaxi and real appreciation for the people who made our trip so memorable. Highly recommend!

I've rarely seen a host this kind and helpful: Darwin went the extra mile to get everything we needed. The room were comfortable, food is amazing, and the property is very cozy. Special mention for the woodfire in cold temperatures. 100% recommend if you're in the region of cotopaxi.

The best Food we have had in Ecuador! You need to order the potato soup! The location is 6 km from entrance to the Cotopaxi national park. We rented mountainbikes to bike up there in about 1 hour, 15 min.

“Don’t make the same mistake we did”

Don’t be fooled by the pictures of the view as it really wasn’t worth all the downsides. Firstly taxis/uber reluctant to serve the location of the property ( not surprising given poor condition of track leading up from Machachi). Long power outages whilst not a fault of the owner do have a greater impact at altitude when cold, wet and dark. It speaks volumes of the owners attitude to his clients that he hasn’t invested in a generator. Most of the time only heat/light came from fires in the common rooms. However they put more smoke in the room than heat, not pleasant at all. No option but to eat here and the meals were poor value for money. Our worst stay in our SA trip.

We had an amazing stay at Ruta de los volcanes. The rooms were clean and with hot water. The location is perfect for the Cotopaxi National Park. Darwin was such a wonderful host. He helped us planning our hike in the park and even helped us with our planning for the next days in Ecuador. Even though one night we were the only guests, the fireplace was lit for us and we got the best meal we had eaten in weeks.
