Stunning lodge at the foot of Cotopaxi volcano. We had the most special stay here - the front desk is very helpful with tours, guides, transfers. The food is exceptionally good - all home made and delicious with excellent service. Hot drinks available all day, which is needed at this altitude. We enjoyed the BBQ and marshmallows around the fire at sunset. There are woodburners in the rooms, hot water bottles in the beds and log fires in the snug areas of the lodge. A totally unique and special experience - the best in our 3 months in Latin America. The volcano climb and tours are highly recommended with their superb, knowledgeable guides.

Amazing location, spectacular views, lovely design, a wonderful team.

Our stay was awesome. Location so near to Cotopaxi is extraordinary and the estate is a beauty, they even have a small local on-site hike. Cannot say anything bad about our stay.

Amazing place near the north gate of Cotpaxi NP. The stay here was a real treat, and we felt really spoilt by the wonderful staff (e.g. finding a fire already lit in our room when coming back in the afternoon). Organising the pick-up from Machachi and a tour into the park (with a great guide) worked very smoothly as well. Food was great too. We loved the view on Cotopaxi from the garden (when it sometimes emerged from the clouds).

“Relaxing stay in a very nice place.”

Breakfast was nice, Dinner (trout) was excellent. Room spacious, with fireplace. Close to the park. Bumpy ride from the north, much more easy to reach from west or from the Cotopaxi itself.

“Great staff, a wonderful location, but you’re on your own if you get altitude sickness”

Chilcabamba Lodge is a lovely hotel, 45 minutes up a bumpy track from Machachi. The staff are super friendly and the food was simply wonderful (we recommend the in-house cookery session if you have time). There is a 3-course menu but you can chose to have less courses if you want. We stayed in the 2 bed family room for a view of the volcano, however this was only partial due to undergrowth at the border of the property (it would be great if that was pruned back). It was good to have a fire in the room, although we didn’t find the lounge seating very comfortable of an evening.

Every time we go to Chilcabamba we remember why we love it that much. The atmosphere, the staff and especially the view, which is exactly as in the picture.

Spectacular & beautiful an amazing experience

The rooms are very nice with a fireplace. The staff is very nice, especially Jesica. She also speaks English which is very helpful. The food is good, the breakfast is fresh with fruit, granola, toast and eggs. The dinner is also quite good. However, a bit expensive at $21 but you can have also a small portion for 11$ (there are no other restaurants nearby). The location of the lodge is good about 6 km from Cotopaxi national park. You can rent bikes. It is good if a taxi drives you to the national park and then you can continue cycling. It's mostly uphill, so you save a good bit. All in all it was a very nice stay at the lodge.

Amazing lodge with perfect views to the Cotopaxi. It‘s approx 5 km from the entrance to the National Park. The lodge is managed very well with a consistent delivery on a high level. Great comfortable rooms with a nice oven that is being put on at 4 pm for you in your room. Great restaurant offering a changing menu of great taste and quality. Very friendly and helpful employees. Clear „go“.

“Staying at Chilcabamba Lodge is a great and recommendable experience!”

It’s a beautiful and quite comfortable place to stay. I travelled with my family and we booked two rooms, one deluxe room for 2 persons and a Comfort suite for 3 with 2 rooms. Both had a great interior design, comfortable beds, good working fireplaces, and ecological shampoos and body creams. For the breakfast, they served fruits with muesli, bread with homemade jam, eggs, and pancakes (and tigrillo for the second day). The staff was really attentive and polite the whole time. For one day we booked a full day excursion through the national park and the local guide was really attentive and considerate, too, especially with my older parents who had to walk very slowly. Finally, the view to the Cotopaxi volcano is amazing!! Thank you very much, Chilcabamba Lodge!

“A treat”

Even better than the pictures. The two-bedroom suite was very well done, with comfortable beds, own wood burner and modern bathroom. Very nice meals plus nice communal space to chill.

The location is definitely off the beaten track and we used the local taxi drivers to bring us to the lodge from Quito, so brace yourself for some windy roads. However, it was all worth it, the peace and tranquility around the lodge as well as the lodge itself is definitely 5 star. They even provide you with ponchos to keep you warm. We definitely enjoyed our stay here as the upgraded rooms made a big difference. Jessica was an amazing host and was very efficient to provide us information that we needed before and during our stay and made our stay all the more worth it.

“Andean Paradise”

Easy 1.5 hour drive from Quito transports you into a spectacular landscape! The lodge was welcoming and cozy with a modern yet distinctly Andean aesthetic. Great food and hospitality. The toasty fire in the room--that staff maintained through the day--made it even more inviting.
