Due to unforeseen circumstances we had to leave after one night. On The Mekong staff were very helpful and very kindly provided a full refund for the three nights we did not stay. We are very impressed by this service as we obviously gave them very short notice. They even said that we were welcome to come back and use their swimming pool.

The location along the Mekong, a bit out of town. Very quiet and lovely.

Breakfast was fantastic, fresh fruit & yoghurt. Great coffee and cooked eggs . The Expat (Henry) owner was great and gave info on the local day tours also great with the History of area and people. Great setting looking over the Mekong River at sundown and fishermen working their nets etc during the day. You are literally sitting within 50m of the river bank . Our family room had 4 bathrooms, all clean and well laid out. Coffee French Press in room. Water in glass recycled bottles which is excellent to see. Free shuttle downtown pretty much anytime, inexpensive to catch a TukTuk back. Organised a day tour to Kuang Si falls which was very reasonably priced. We are not really budget tourists but like to get up close and personal with where we stay and this was a great place to experience that. The staff were very friendly and happy.

“A gem of a place and owner!”

Almost everything. Staff are very warm and friendly and I know they are well appreciated and looked after by the hotel - maybe not a point on everyone's age da but certainly on ours. The 24-hour pool and gardens are lovely. The proximity to the mekong is great and the views across it are lovely, especially at sunset. Our room was tastefully decorated in wood and had a traditional Laos house feel to it (in fact, it IS. a traditional Laotian house - dismantled and rebuilt here!). Nice size, good bathroom, inviting veranda overlooking gardens. Breakfast is part-buffet / part a la carte but delicious and enough for any stomach. Chatting to the owner Henry is a highlight. Friendly, approachable , warm, informative, knowledgeable - an old-skool SE Asia hand of 4 decades +. I'll say it again - write a book Henry! Quiet location 2kms from the centre but there's a free tuk tuk into town. Highly recommend and will certainly be coming back.

“A wonderful experience”

The property is located on the Mekong Riverfront. It set a large sprawling land area filled with trees and gardens , the rooms are large and spacious and have been put into an eclectic range of old Laotian houses the effect is quite remarkable Sunsets from the cafe area amazing. The pool is large and very clean and use a friendly Henry, the owner personally looks after you and ensures his family of Laotian staff tend to every need . If you’re looking for something a little different this is definitely the place to stay.

Coming back to this amazing place. This time even with a swimming pool to enjoy. Henrys vision and Philosophie having created such a wonderfull place. The friendliness, courtesy and helpfullness of all the staff. There ability to communicate and engage with the customers. The decoration and level of comfort of the rooms and surroundings I have never experienced anywere else..

Henry and his crew do absolutely everything to make your stay as comfortable as possible. Every morning, Henry wants to make sure his staff and all the guests are allright. You can ask them anything and they will arrange it for you. Besides that, the location and resort are absolutely wonderful. We had an unexpected longer stay due to my mother, who broke her ankle. Henry went to the hospital with us, which he obviously didn't have to do, but he was a great support with lots of humour:-) Thanks a lot and we hope to come back one day!

A really peaceful stay, away from crowds, quiet, sound of birds singing, rustic, perfect to read a book on your terrace, wonderful sunset by the river. The staff are incredibly attentive, specially at breakfast, everyone is so kind and smily. Delicious breakfast with fresh fruit and varied options depending on the day, yummy pastries and coffee. Overall a 10 star stay, will definitely stay here again.

We can recommend this resort with a clear conscience to all those who not only want to travel to a country but truly experience it. We have rarely spent our stay as pleasently as here.
