“Beautiful countryside, wonderful host.”

May was a wonderful host. She helped us with transfers to and from the hotel, and advised us on walks in the area. The views from the hotel are amazing, and the surrounding countryside is beautiful.

The hotel is located in the heart of Ping'an Hung Village. This allows you to explore the surrounding rice terraces on foot, and in one day, reach the viewpoints (Nine Dragons and Five Tigers (九龙五虎) and Seven Stars with the Moon (七星伴月), which offer stunning views. The owner, who speaks excellent English, is very helpful in arranging transportation to the hotel (in our case, from the Guilin train station) as well as to the next town on our itinerary. In our case, it was Yangshuo. The Chinese breakfast (noodles) was excellent, and you can also enjoy typical dishes from the region in the evening. The hotel also serves European breakfasts, but for us (we are from Poland) Chinese breakfast was more attractive than the European. Overall, the stay was wonderful...

The location was good

Mai’s hotel is perfectly located in the center of the village, making it very convenient to walk from there to the rice terraces. The view from our room was breathtaking, we stayed on the fifth floor, and the climb was absolutely worth it. Above all, the hospitality, care, and help we received were truly exceptional. Oh, and the food was delicious too. We highly recommend this place.

“Best hotel for the rice field trip.”

The best hotel we stayed at on our trip to China! Great room, super helpful staff that spoke English. We stayed only one night but got all the help with transports, hikes, even directions during the hikes. We also ate dinner in the evening in the hotel prepared by the owner which had a tasty flavor. Village itself has a magical feeling and the views were amazing.

The food at the hotel was delicious, and the hotel room was beautifully designed and homely. We are so glad we stayed here and couldn’t recommend it enough, if you are looking to explore the rice terraces.

Our host May spoke excellent English and was able to organize our trip from Guilin to Ping’an as well as assist us with planning our day. The accommodation has a very nice family-like atmosphere. We got to eat great local dishes and taste local wine. We had great views of the rice terraces from our balcony.

“What a truly Wonderful experience!”

Thanks Mai. For making our stay so seamlessly easy and memorable. Our visit to Ping’an and Longji Holiday hotel were amongst our most favourite. Mai’s English language skills made it so easy. We ate rice, bamboo shoots, green veggies and drank tea all grown in her families terrace garden. Mai organised a taxi to collect us from Guilin airport and another taxi to take us to Yangshuo when we left.

“Very Unique Area to Visit with Tons of Hiking Trails”

We were met at the gate by our hostess, who helped us with one of our heavy backpacks and two small bags of snacks. She would have carried both our bags if her basket was big enough! It was an uphill climb of about 10 minutes. The hotel is situated about 2/3 up the hill of the village, which means that one is closer to the rice fields and hiking up to the two observation decks is shorter. The hotel itself is very charming, and for the best view, you will need to climb five floors up, no elevators, to the top floor. Our room was spacious and the decor very rustic and charming. The surrounding area is a delight to explore. Lots of trails to get to two view points. Very good signage too. Breakfast was included with our room. Dinner is also available upon request with good selection of local dishes. Our hostess, whom we dubbed Super Woman, also would personally walk guests down the village on departure day.

“Great choice for terraces”

Great view from our 6th floor (perhaps view blocked on most lower floors as lots of construction around). Small but beautiful and, at the time of writing, still relatively authentic area of rice terraces. Had time to see all in 2.5 hours in the evening, allowing us too transfer to another area the next morning. Great helpful service and delicious food - we tried the same dish the next day in a highly rated restaurant (4.7 A-Map) and the hinge cooked version was better!!

Everything was great, especially the view of rice terraces (also in the night). Our room was very clean, the host has been very helpful with advice. She organized transfers from Guilin and local transportation. Be sure to have dinner at the hotel. The food was delicious.

“Great place, lovely hostess, good breakfast and rooms!”

We arrived at the train station in Guilin, planning to go to the Rice terraces by bus or taxi. However, because we don't know Chinese, we didn't know exactly all the details of the route (we did everything at last moment, don't repeat). So we booked this hotel at the last minute, largely because May speaks English. Almost immediately she helped us with a taxi at a good price. It turns out that if you call Didi to the village, you have to pay the taxi driver to enter the rice terraces, as most drivers don't have one. Pingyang is a very authentic village, there were minimal tourists in the village when we visited, for us it was an amazing experience. We decided to stay for two nights, to enjoy the mountain views and the fresh clean air. May is a true angel, we trusted her 100%, she helped us in so many situations. The hotel lobby with stunning wood furniture, unbelievably beautiful! Tourist tip: Come to Pingan, stay overnight and hike to Dazhai early in the morning. Enjoy the views and the silence. Have lunch in Dazhai and take a car back to Pingan.

The place is magic, and the owner, Mai, is very kind. She speaks really well English and she was extremely helpful. She can also accompany you in long hiking among villages if you need.

“Comfy and interesting stay amidst the rice fields.”

From the hotel there is direct walking acces to the rice terraces, the scenic spots. Easy and very helpful communication with the owner Liao Yanmei who gave advice about activities, directions, drove us, guided us, cooked for us, so we could make the most of it during three days. We learnt a lot from her, thank you, Mei!

The location was ideal and the owner was very helpful. She prepared a breakfast when I was leaving very early in the morning to discover the village of Dazhai and even arranged a transfer to Yangshuo. The food was delicious ! I highly recommand and will be sure to come back here if I ever have the chance to !

“Beautiful, cosy and well located”

Beautiful hostel in Ping’an village. Very clean. Just need to walk few minutes to be in the rice fields. 1h by foot to go to Longji and 4h to go to Dazhai (other villages). Home made meals were delicious (with local rice!). Host was also kind and she speak english.
