“Authentic old hotel with a local feel”

Hotel is very central and close to the causeway coming in to the town - for driving its actually simple but doesn't feel like it as the streets are narrow and quite a lot of people walking, but extremely close to the causeway when driving back out to park or when leaving. Staff directed us to the car park on other side of causeway and we drove back out there but decided it was too far for us and parked in the town park haus - expensive for 2 days 52 euro but really close to the hotel. Had a nice room on the 2nd floor - the stairs are quite steep! Very close to everything in the town once you get your bearings. Very good breakfast in the hotel restaurant - we didn't have dinner there but seems to be extremely popular - first night we saw people being turned away as they were full, so book if you want to eat there. Staff are nice but no hotel reception so check in and queries etc in restaurant. Lindau is lovely - easy to walk around island and a lot of cafes / restaurants

“Quaint, traditional well run place with lovely staff”

Very pretty place, very traditional in the look and feel, and nice it was family run. The food was excellent and my single room was very spacious with all the amenities I needed. Bed was a little firm but that’s just me

Super friendly staff. Great breakfast. Even though it was close to the center, we slept like babies. A huge bonus for us was that they had a separate bike room.

The staff are very friendly and helpful. Breakfast options are diverse. The hotel location is impeccable for travelers. Minibar and cookies are sweet.

This was my second stay at Alte Post and the hotel and their staff exceed the expectations set during my first stay. The rooms were clean, comfortable, spacious, and included great amenities. The included breakfast is special as it's substantial and offers something for every taste. A real highlight of Alte Post are the staff, they are all incredibly kind and helpful, and go above and beyond to ensure their guests are happy. I can't wait to stay at Alte Post again!

“Friendly comfortable hotel in a great position to explore Lake Konstanz (Der Obersee)”

The Alte Post is a 300 year old coaching inn. Downstairs the restaurant looks traditional and the food is great! We ate here, outside in the evenings, 3 times during our week's stay - go for the Hawaiian curry chicken :-) . The food is as good as if not better than the food in the main high street restaurants and as it was so hot it was good to be able to eat at our hotel. The breakfast has a choice of eggs cooked specially for you and a buffet style breakfast bar to choose your own meat, cheese, cereals, fruit, yoghurts and bread. The staff were all very friendly and didn't laugh at our attempts to speak German (I'm sure they were laughing inside!). We had a room on the north side of the building on the second floor, which was cool in 30+ degrees. We regretted bringing such heavy cases as there is no elevator - however the staff helped us with them on arrival. There is a little sun terrace on the second floor and we enjoyed reading outside in the evenings with the swifts flying over head. Lindau has everything you need and you can walk around the island's coastline through parks and pathways. Check out the garden pot and statue shop in one of the old railway sheds as you walk past - good thing we were flying home or our car would have ben full! We went by ferry to Konstanz, Mainau Island and Bregenz - all lovely, and if you love gardens, Mainau is a must - the Italian rose garden was in full bloom - heavenly. We also went to Ravensburg and St Gallen by train (trains and buses are free with the Lindau Card - you get this on arrival at your hotel). The whole area is lovely and there are lots of walks and cycle routes around the lake - would definitely have another holiday here.

Everything was great! Breakfast was exellant! The room has the opportunity to drink tea and coffee, which was a pleasant surprise!

Hotel is very clean and on very good location. Breakfast was very good i really recomand it. I dont recomand to come with car becouse its very hard to find parking.

“Wonderful, warm, quiet stay in Lindau”

The room is so quiet which was very important for me! I feel so comfortable in the room. There is even a Terrasse where we can sit outside. The staff are all very welcoming. We love the breakfast in the morning. There is such a great atmosphere in the hotel. We feel like we are honoured guests. Will definitely stay here again.

“Extremely enjoyable and memorable”

Authentic German hotel with a very friendly staff and excellent German cuisine. Room were small but tidy and well equip. As expected there was no a/c but the windows opened to provide good ventilation. Just be aware that things in Lindau come alive at 6am when the church bell tolls. Wi-Fi and a most excellent breakfast are included. Easy access to all that Lindau island has to offer.

Great location, amazing old rooms with comfort. Access to roof terrace, close to beach and everything in town. They went the extra mile to get vegan stuff for breakfast.
