although we arrived early afternoon, host accepted to keep our luggage until room was ready; she gave us useful info regarding the Puy du fou shows, as well as good restaurants around les Herbiers; breakfast was excellent Most enjoyable short stay in this historic mansion.

Catherine is a very friendly person and really helped us out with great advice for getting to Puy Du Fou. She is a great host, and between her and Patrick, they make for a great stay. The building is beautiful and well maintained. We will be recommending it on a lot of other media.

We only spent 1 night here as we came to watch the shows at Puy de Fou and return the day after. As soon as we arrived to the bed and breakfast we felt we entered another world. It was very homey but with extra touches of comfort: the driveway was clean and surrounded by nature before coming close to the pool, jacuzzi and outdoor seating in a quiet garden. We entered the home and were greeted by soft relaxing music and a kind gentleman; one of the co-owners. He was very welcoming and despite them not offering dinner, he gave us a list of places we could grab dinner from while waiting for the cinescenie evening show at Puy de Fou. He told us we could picnic in the garden, which we did. It was a great break from the fast-paced and hot day we had spent at Puy de Fou. He showed us around the home and invited us to help ourselves to drinks on our floor as we pleased and a beautiful sauna, which we didn't use because it was a hot day! Our room was much more lovely than I had expected. My husband and I had a nice double sized bed and in the corner of the room was placed a couch opened up into a bed for our 2 children. Both beds were VERY comfortable. The room had lovely lighting, modern ceilings, a television, air conditioning and a very nice shower and bathroom. The owner took our breakfast requirements in the evening and before checking out in the morning we had a grand breakfast in the breakfast area with other guests. Everything we had requested was there and more. After checking out we were told that we could still spend the day, which we did, using the jacuzzi, pool and garden. Both jacuzzi and pool were very clean and again relaxing. Children, husband and I felt we had taken a two week vacation! I highly recommend staying at Maison Marie Barrault.
