“Perfect stay!”

Beautiful, spacious room in historic barracks building, friendly staff @ reception, fantastic breakfast (and so much on offer!), free parking right outside. Tuju Taproom for great beers and super Neapolitan, wood-fired pizza only steps away. Also enjoyed the nearby, lovely walking track down to lake Saimaa.

Everything was fine during our stay in Rakunna. Great pizzaria close to the hotel (Tuju). Next to city center.

“Excellent base for a trip to Lappeenranta”

The property is an old army base so immediately oyu feel the history. The staff were super friendly, excellent English which was great for a non Finnish speaker like me! Breakfast was great! Near the lake (where we saw the Northern Lights!!), had a great 'common room/kitchen' with games, books, tea/coffee making facilities, fridge and microwave. Couldn't fault it1

Clean, spacious, lovely location, less than 10 minutes walk from city centre. Comfortable bed, good shower, nice big windows. A lovely kitchen and dining area where you can store and heat food. Mind you, there is no cooking facility.

It was my first time in Lappeenranta and couldn't have chosen a better place to stay. The hotel is fabulous, filled with history, clean, confortable, and staff is extraordinarily kind and helpful. A few blocks down the hotel's street, there's a brewery called Tuju (To you) that serves a Margherita pizza (Marko-Riitta as they call it) that's simply the best I've ever tasted. The city of Lappeenranta as a whole invites one to walk around, contemplate the lakes, its beautiful streets and parks and enjoy some of the famous South Karelia's cakes (10 out of 10). It's been definitely an experience worth repeating ;)

Customer service is great, knowledgeable and friendly. And 24 hours on site. The hotel is in a beautiful 100 year old brick castle. Quiet and really nicely renovated. Food is available in the lobby 24 hours a day and breakfast is included. Free parking behind the house. There is a lot of historical things to see in the area: a magnificent church, 4 beautiful old army tanks and a fortress from 200 years ago. I recommend it.

Hotel was clean and had a great location. Room was equipped with everything you need. Staff was friendly and helpful. Breakfast was quite good but nothing fancy.

“Great Barracks Experience”

What a surprise finding a hotel in a former cavalry barracks! The hotel and surrounding area was steeped with history and you almost felt the horses and cavalrymen coming round the corner. The room had been used by four soldiers so it was fairly large and recently renovated. Clean, stylish, modern. Breakfast was self-service with more than enough choices and food. The story of hotel's past was told with large photos on the walls - great touch. Also - free charging of electrical vehicles.

“Great place to stay while visiting Lappenranta city center”

The location is simply superb, in the city centre. Free parking. Good breakfast. Helpful staff. Something extra compared to a regular hotel is a private fridge in the room and a well-equipped shared kitchen. It was also possible to have an extra bed in the family room, so the whole family of 5 could fit in the same room.

“Surprise hit in Lappeenranta”

Only stopped here one night on our way to the lake district, but we found Lappeenranta to be well-worth walking around. Wish we could have stayed another day to visit the museums. The hotel in former cavalry barracks was small, comfortable enough, and a short walk from the fortress and harbour. Fascinating site.

Great location, large rooms, great breakfast, friendly staff, sauna. The best place for those traveling with pets.
