The place is magical. Serene with great views. All the travels to and from Mountain Nest and to Semuc Champey were organizedized perfectly. Ideal for a romantic retreat. The last 200 m is walking - so be prepared. The less baggage the better. The caregiver Carlos helped us with that as well.

Absolutely perfect! We just booked a night here to split up our right from Antigua to Semuc Champey. It ended up one of the loveliest nights we have ever spent in an apartment!

“Exceptional stay near Semuc Champey”

The guesthouse is run by Remy and Darina, a French-American couple who have lived in Guatemala for over 10 years. Communication with Remy was excellent before and during our stay. All information was provided clearly in advance, including road conditions, travel times, and food options. He was always responsive and helpful. The house is fully wooden, beautifully furnished, very functional, and designed for up to 3-4 guests. The kitchen is fully equipped with everything needed to cook. Hot water is available at all times and heated by gas. All windows open onto a stunning view of the mountains. The large terrace with loungers offers breathtaking views at any time of day. The view is also visible from the bathroom. The shower, with a panoramic window overlooking the valley, is one of the most beautiful we have experienced in Guatemala. The garden around the house features cacao trees and creates a peaceful atmosphere. There is also a campfire area next to the terrace, with firewood provided on request. As the house is immersed in nature, insects are present, which is completely normal. There are no dangerous or venomous creatures, and any visitors can simply be gently guided back outside. We ordered breakfasts and dinners from the menu provided in advance and enjoyed all meals very much. Everything was prepared with care and attention to our preferences. Highly recommended. Access is only possible by jeep, as clearly indicated. Even in the dry season, the road is too rough for a regular car. From the parking area, the final access to the house involves a short but steep 5–7 minute walk over uneven terrain. Remy thoughtfully provides walking sticks, which makes this walk much easier and safer. From Lanquín bus station, the drive takes about 25 minutes. Transportation can be easily arranged with a trusted driver recommended by Remy. Semuc Champey National Park is about 45-50 minutes away from the Nest.

Communication with the host is through WhatsApp, and they respond within minutes. Cabin itself is comfortable.

“A hidden gem of a mountain retreat! Blissful and close to nature”

Mountain nest was a wonderful stay! It’s a little off the beaten track! It does require a walk down a path to get to the cabin, but once you get there the view is breathtaking. The cabin is very well equipped and has some beers/wine that you can purchase. We also bought some small snacks from the neighbours shop, however if you want something more would advise bringing with you! We loved the ethos of the cabin and really enjoyed reading about it in the books provided. It feels close to nature and involved in the local community which we loved. Remi was an incredible host, and helped us out multiple times with travel and organisation!! Carlos was also lovely! And made our stay very enjoyable!

Mountain Nest will be one of the most unique and memorable accommodation experiences of my life. Our hosts, Remy and Darina were so friendly and kind. The cabin is large, cosy and equipped with everything you need. The views are out of this world! I highly recommend you forget cooking and order your food from Remy and Darina as it’s all so delicious, filling and healthy! Everything is made from scratch. We also did the guided hike which was challenging but beautiful and also the local lunch experience. I would love to come back again one day!

The cabin is very cosy with an incredible view. A great spot for some quiet chill time as well as a good base for Semuc Champey. Remy and Darina are excellent hosts and the home cooked dinners were delicious.

“Wonderful stay at Mountain Nest”

We had a wonderful stay at Mountain Nest. Rémy was quick to respond to our questions and went out of his way to help us. Carlos as well was super friendly and his wife Chona cooked us amazing dinners. We spent the day at Mountain Nest on the deck outside playing games and enjoying the view, without feeling the need to go out. The view is that amazing! It is a little out of the way, about a 20 minute ride outside of Lanquin, but if you have the time it is the perfect spot to recuperatie and get away from it all!

We had the most amazing stay at Mountain’s Nest. The cabin is spotless and in the most gorgeous location, Remy + Darina are fantastic hosts and the food was absolutely amazing. We had some of our best meals on Guatemala (if not the best) at Mountain’s Nest. Semuc Champey is nearby but there’s plenty to do at the cabin as well - the view is absolutely stunning and there’s a spacious patio to relax on, plenty of board games to try, and tours/activities offered as well. We highly recommend the cacao tour where you make your own chocolate using cacao beans from the property! Can’t recommend Mountain’s Nest enough!

“Incredible experience”

The experience at Remy and Darina's was special and perfect! The photos do not reflect the beautiful view from the cabin and its special location. Remy and Darina make sure that your experience will be not less than amazing, they help with everything you want: Shuttles, tours, explanation of the village, etc.. and of course the food they cook at a very, very high level! We were there for 3 nights as part of our honeymoon and it was very hard for us to leave. Truly this is the most magical place we've spent time in!

“Magical”

This was my favourite place that I stayed in Guatemala! Absolutely amazing place if you are looking for somewhere that not everyone gets to experience. Wake up above the clouds, walk through the forest to your cabin, and watch the sun setting over the mountains. A place that is pure magic. The journey there is long and bumpy, but as soon as your arrive, you think welll that was worth it! Remy and Darina were fantastic hosts and are also amazing cooks - would definitely recommend the food!!!
