If you want to be 2 minute walk to the Semuc Champey and within nature with a chill vibe, I reccommend here! The price is good considering you're in the middle of nowhere with a private room and bathroom. The view of the river from the cabin is lush with a peaceful outside private seating area. The staff are extremely friendly and local, especially Rammy who was great company. You will inevitably run into wildlife so if you don't mind that then definitely book... A couple bugs but this is their natural environment and the staff are CONSTANTLY cleaning the whole area around the hotel and we're always happy to help me remove anything. I woke up to the incredible wild sound of a Yucatán black howler, it was a magical moment! I paid with card no problem with no surcharge which I appreciated as reasonable ATMs are difficult to find and there was always wifi in the common area and even from my room sometimes. Electricity is on most the day in the rooms but always in the kitchen. I had chicken with no problems. The shuttles work like clockwork, but leave extra time as traffic can be bad. I reccommend going to the waterfall across the river in the early evening where you'll see locals playing and washing their clothes and get the waterfall view to yourself. Also make sure to go to the park at 8am before all the tours arrive... I had the pools to myself for an hour it was insane!

Amazing location as it is only about a 5 min walk to the entry of Semuc Champey. Staff are friendly and helpful especially with booking the candle cave tour and other little activities

The location is perfect, just next to the Semuc ticket area. also, it has lovely spots to enjoy some chill time watching the river. Rural hut, perfect for one or two nights experiences

“Incredible”

The rating I give you for a hostel!! The hostel now has wi-fi even during times when the power is out. The beds are on one level, not bunk-bed, 4 beds in a room. The place is incredibly beautifully and quiet, except for the roosters early in the morning, arranged and right next to the entrance to the park with Semuc Champey. The entrance fee to the park itself is 50 quetzals. But I personally took a full-day tour that included a visit to the river, the cave, tubing along the river, and a guide the whole time for the sum of 175 quetzals. The hostel doesn't have a kitchen for guests to use, but they do have a restaurant with pretty decent prices. Right next to the entrance of the hostel there are also several places that offer grilled meat or tacos.

“I wouldn't stay here again”

In itself it is a very nice hostel in the middle of the countryside. But the staff is very rude! When I asked why it is now a more expensive price for the accommodation, they just wanted my money without understanding. I generally had the feeling that they are only out for money. Since they also told me a wrong price for my shuttle and very rudely demanded more money. But what bothered me the most was a crazy man in my room. Apparently he had taken drugs or something... he came into our room around midnight and yelled at everyone and searched the whole room. He ran screaming across the grounds. In the end, the police had to come. The situation itself was handled quite well by the hostel. But since the man has been conspicuous earlier, one should have intervened earlier. I (female 19 years old) do not want to sleep with such a man in a room under any circumstances!

The best location, just 2 min from the park. It's very pretty, has nice views, is in the middle of the jungle and run by locals.

The property was in walking distance from the pools so you would need transport if you wanted to head into Lanquin. Having said that we didn't feel we needed to. Our little bungalow had its own bathroom and was comfortable. The onsite restaurant had great food at a reasonable cost. The pools and garden area were beautiful and very well maintained... They were cleaning all the time. Contrary to the advert, the property does have wifi during "Electricity" hours and they do accept payment cards. Also, although the trip from lanquin is on the back of a truck the road is better than stated, there was reliable transport back to Lanquin for early morning onward travel. We really liked being close to the pools and waterfall and would recommend a stay here.

Great location, very close to Semuc Champey. Swimming pool. Wonderful having a private terrace with a hammock overlooking the river. Some of the staff were lovely. Good pancakes.

Property is just at the pools so you can walk there. Room was okay with cute hammock and balcony to the river. Staff are super nice !

Great location a 5 min walk to the Semuc Champney national park. They also collected us from Lanquin after a 10 hour journey from Lake Atitlan which was pretty helpful.

“Ok for one night but I wouldn’t go there again”

The free pick up service form the bus station was great. The position was great too for us, as you’re really 2 minutes away from the entrance to the park. But of course being away from the city means that you can only eat your meals in there (unless you don’t go to the city by a 20 mins Tuk Tuk ride) or buy some street food outside the park entrance.

“Almost perfect”

This is a hostel with the tragedy of being almost perfect. It has some of the most amazing friendly staff and an almost killer location, overlooking a beautiful river.

Locacion of hotel is next to the river and so incredible. Entrance to the park of semuc chameey and cave are just few steps from the hotel. The landscape of the hotel area is amazing. Including is also pool ,huge garden area and friendly staff especially Araceli ;) Muchas gracias y asta luego!

“Wonderful stay for visiting Semuc Champey”

Right next to the Semuc Champey entrance. Lovely view of the river and nice to have a pool to cool off. The fish from the restaurant was delicious. The full day tour to Semuc Champey with the caves and tubing that they offer was brilliant, we had such a fun day!

Very close located to the entrance of Semuc Champey, this hostal offered clean rooms in a calm and green surrounding. The restaurant was good, we especially enjoyed our drinks in the evening. The staff is also very friendly, we enjoyed our stay there and would always return!
