Situated within 500 metres of Manda Beach and 500 metres of Shela Beach in Lamu, Jua House provides accommodation with seating area. “I highly recommend Jua House”
The staff were so helpful. We arrived exhausted,so they recommended that a local woman, Miriam, deliver a home cooked Swahili meal. It was delicious. They have a bakery downstairs and serve freshly baked goodies for tea every afternoon. The views are magnificent and is hotel is beautiful. Aesthetically pleasing and amazing rooftop area. Cosmos was our captain, a knowledgeable, kind person, who gave us good tips and advice. Breakfast was served overlooking the whole of Shela on the balcony.

“Feels like home away from home”
Always a pleasure to go back to Jua House. Lovely decor, friendly owners and staff, delicious home baked goods for breakfast and afternoon tea, reliable partners to organise sunset cruises (highly recommended), etc. The cook baked some excellent gluten-free bread for my sister who's coeliac. No doubt we'll be back!

“10/10 this is a paradise in Shela where you’ll be looked after and well fed!”
We absolutely loved our stay at Jua House! From the moment we met Amani we felt so welcomed and looked after. The staff go above and beyond to help you, the food is incredible, and the place is clean and comfortable. We didn’t want to leave but we did so feeling relaxed and happy :)

“Good location, very clean and well run guest house”
A lovely Swahili house that is very clean and well run. Very good location and safe. The breakfast has a good selection although the fresh fruit seems very limited but a good general choice. Afternoon tea available and fresh tea and coffee all day. Lovely rooms, really good choice to stay in.

“Beautiful and unforgettable!”
Jua House is a dream! We felt we had chosen the perfect place to stay in Shela as soon as we arrived. The staff is very kind, and Amani was always available and happy to help us. They gave us plenty of recommendations and arranged all the activities for us - all the guides they recommended were great! The breakfast was excellent (everything made by them), and we never missed tea/coffee time. Besides the great quality of the food, the place where it is served is beautiful. The house itself is also very nicely decorated, and the spaces are comfortable, giving you (what seems like) a true experience of life in Lamu! We loved this place and would love to come back - we felt like at home.

“The discerning choice - an absolute hidden gem”
We loved so much about Jua House: the coffee and pastries freshly baked on the premises every afternoon on the roof terrace with its stunning views of the town and the sea, the happy friendly staff, the sense of complete safety and relaxation, the Shela location looking over the rooftops, just minutes up from Peponi, Bahari and the beach, the delicious breakfast, the well-traveled regulars (some who have come to Lamu many times, and tellingly choose Jua). Gorgeous room, with hammock on the balcony, bonus outside shower, fridge, stylish toiletries. Nothing not to like. Just gorgeous.
