Everything!!! In 8 weeks travelling through African countries this has been the best stay! Incredible views, hot water with great pressure, beautiful bed sheets towels, spotless clean, amazing food everyday, super safe, incredible communication and assistance all the time. I instantly changed plans and booked longer.

Had an excellent stay at Hidmo Cosy Place in Lalibela. Desta was one of the best hosts/guides we’ve had in Ethiopia. Everything was perfectly arranged, from airport pickup to the acommodation, food and tour in Lalibela. Saturday afternoon we did the first cluster of churches and on Sunday morning the second cluster. Desta really shines as a guide with a deep knowledge of the churches of Lalibela. Price of the tour is cheap, extremely fair. A budget option with premium service. In terms of accommodation, you are staying in a tower room with a nice view. Lunch on the first day and breakfast on the second day, coffee etc. was included in our stay/tour. If you go to Lalibela, stay here!

location, personnel, cleanliness, size of room A very cozy hotel, nice quet location. The personeel is very friendly. View is amazing (the photo is attached). Eshatu (the owner) met me when I arrived and gave me nice advices of where to go. On top of that for the whole next day he was guiding me around. In comparison to other professional guides Eshatu is not intrusive and does not overload you with a lot of information as usually professional guides do and that was exactly what I needed! Definetelly a must stay place

Hello from an x2 Aussie travellers ! Wow guys what an amazing stay at a really loving homestay. They did everything to make our stay as wonderful as possible and really treated us with care. The experience of staying here versus another hotel is that you are treated on a more personal level with kindness and care. We enjoyed some delicious varied breakfasts, and were invited for lunch and to the families Easter celebrations, the food was the best we had in 5 days in a Lalibella including some local fresh ingredients. Excellent value for money, and a beautiful outdoor seating area and amazing view from our room’s balcony ❤️

My wife and I spent three days in Lalibela. Desta and his family were very welcoming and friendly. He recommended the best restaurants in Lalibela and he was always concerned about our well-being and safety. In addition, he took us to an incredible tour around the churches. The room had a beautiful view of the mountains and the breakfast was wonderful. Besides we had the honor of witnessing a true coffee ceremony We had an unforgettable experience. We highly recommend Desta Tours. They are amazing!!

“A perfect stay, there could be nothing better in Lalibela”

I had a perfect stay at Hidmo Cozy Place. It is in a fairly quiet area, but is still very located. The room was beautiful, very clean and simple, but still extremely comfortable, and it was easy to feel at home. The terrace was lovely, and the view was amazing. All the staff were wonderful, the food was good, and they could not do enough to make you feel at home. I cannot imagine a better place to stay!

A beautiful property which is well maintained and run by staff who really made us feel at home! Our stay was easy and effortless thanks to the amazing staff! They offered us fair prices for transfers and tuktuks around town (which we had also shopped around for ourselves) and helped advised us of side trips we could do - and assisted with organising it all for us which made it the best place we stayed in all of ethiopia!

This is undoubtedly the best place to stay in Lalibela - a real hidden gem. The rooms are modern and clean with fantastic views, the food is wonderful, and everything is organised perfectly. The owner of the property is also a highly experienced guide who gives great tours. Couldn’t recommend this place enough.

He organized tours across Ethiopia and invited us to a formal dinner, where we participated in a traditional coffee ceremony – an unforgettable experience. The guesthouse is extremely clean, quiet, and cozy, with Wi-Fi quality dependent on local internet providers in Ethiopia.

Amazing hotel - really interesting architecture and one of the nicest rooms we had in the whole of Ethiopia, beautiful view from the room and the staff were so kind and helpful, they made us an Ethiopian Christmas dinner for free as an act of kindness! Great laundry service too!

The apartment is well built with a traditional concept with a modern structure and design. The view from the balcony is breath taking as it faces the vast mountains with a large land .

By chance I discovered Hidmo in February 2023 and returned in February 2025. Yes the view is fabulous; rooms and beds are very confortable; cuisine is delicious; service is exceptional; great location... Destaw, Kidist, their children plus Lemlem, Ababech, Tesfa and Chiatu are all very helpful, knowlegeable, kind and professional. The garden and balcony are a wonderful safe Haven from the hustle and bustle of the City. Highly recommended. I shall return perhaps before the end of 2025.
