A Frustrating 8-Night Nightmare Ruined by Unforgivable Basic Failures My 8-night stay at in Hokkaido holiday house Toya was nothing short of a disaster—one that left me freezing, frustrated. I arrived late on a bitterly cold Hokkaido evening, exhausted after a long day of travel, only to be hit with a laundry list of problems the second I stepped into my room. First, I turned on the faucet to wash my hands and was met with no water,Then I tried to use the toilet, only to find there is no flushing water too ,it wouldn’t empty the bowl .To top it all off, the living room heater was down —no warm air, no fan, nothing. In Hokkaido’s frigid temperatures, this wasn’t just an inconvenience—it was a health hazard. I immediately called the staff (text at the same time ) to report all three issues, and the staff sounded apologetic enough, promising some one would arrive within 30 minutes. I waited, growing colder and more annoyed by the minute, only to realize that 30 minutes turned into 3 long freezing hours. By the time someone finally showed up, it was well past midnight. They managed to get the water running again. the shower head was tiny ,water pressure was horrible . As for the broken living room heater, they had zero solutions—it was completely dysfunctional. Holiday house Toya only bothered to replace the broken living room heater on the 7th day of my 8-night stay—by then, I’d already endured a week of shivering nights,Every trip to the restroom downstairs was freezing cold . it was uncomfortable stay in a room that lacked basic functioning utilities. This place is clearly not properly maintained to host guests, especially in a region as cold as Hokkaido. A working heater, steady water pressure, a functional shower head, and a flushing toilet aren’t luxury perks—they’re non-negotiable necessities. All these should be properly checked and maintained before hosting any guest !!!

Horrible experience. The main door didn't open easily and stuck. Once we were stuck outside of the door in rain for 3-4 hours, struggling to open the door and reach out both Booking.com and home owners number. The home owners contact number shared by Booking.com as part of the confirmation is wrong. We called the owner and they responded saying the property is not under Booking.com. They refused to help. We were feeling so hopeless and struggling for help for hours standing in the dark with family.

Cosy and more economical compared to most around Lake Toya.

The house is located at the very good location. Just 50 meter away from Lake Toya shore. Walking , Running around is a must. The view is superb. The house have 3 b5 bedroom which could fit 10+ people.

Lovely property very close to the lake and a choice of a couple of restaurants within walking distance. You definitely need a car as very little public transport available.

Very spacious house, lots of bedding options and cooking facilities. We travelled for snowboarding, so a car is a must if you stay here and want to visit resorts in either Niseko or Rusutsu. Also only about a 15 minute drive in Lake Toya township.
