Loved the rustic, wilderness, cozy and warm vibe.

I loved the wilderness vibe of it, and that it was very warm and had a fully equipped kitchen, as well as water, kettles, functioning stove, sauna, and plenty of space in living and main areas.

Nice experience

Clean, comfortable, warm rooms and common area. Well stocked kitchen, sauna was fun. Not nearly as wilderness as might be expected, even an hour of wifi per night if the sun was good enough to charge the solar battery. Good location for some hikes in the area.

Basic but well set up - would stay again

The location is great and you are in the middle of nature (we saw a bear outside our dorm room). The kitchen is clean and well set up. The staff were talkative and helpful throughout the stay. The price is significantly cheaper than other places we stayed out in the area and there are nice shared spaces that are used well socially. The heating in the rooms are effective. There is no running water or electricity but the place is well set up for it and you can shower in the other HI hostels (e.g. Lake Louise). The toilets are outhouses but again, cleaned well and properly maintained.

Wonderful hostel in the Canadian Wilderness

It is a lovely hostel in a forest setting. A couple of wooden cabins, all very comfy and well-heated. The kitchen is well equipped and the common room has some books and games plus a lovely fire place.
