Great location, 10 minutes from the nearest cable car. My partner had food poisoning and this was a very comfortable place for her to recover.

It was very well located, the staff was specially nice and helpful, with the tours and the transportation. The hotel has a nice garden and a nice cozy vibe.

The staff were very kind and helpful. The room is next to a college so the area is quiet from about 10pm onwards.

We truly enjoyed our stay at this hotel, which is located in a very pleasant area. The staff were extremely friendly and always willing to help us with our questions. After a long bus ride, we were able to check in early for a small fee and enjoy breakfast, which was very much appreciated. We booked several excursions through the hotel (Death Road and the Takesi Hike), which were great experiences and very well organized. The staff gave us honest advice about which excursions might be less enjoyable during the rainy season and which options were the best at this time. I would definitely recommend this hotel.

What a treat - one of the main reasons I didn't want to leave La Paz was because of my wonderful stay at El Consulado. Expect charming and spacious amenities in a colonial-style b&b with incredibly kind, hospitable, and helpful staff. Domingo, Tatiana, and Juan Carlos went above and beyond to ensure I had a comfortable stay and was well informed with local tips and suggestions. In the heart of La Paz, I felt safe walking around as a solo female traveler throughout the day (as well as night). I arranged hotel shuttle pick up, which made my travel incredibly easy. I would highly recommend this hotel for groups of all sizes -- solo, double, family, etc.

Their kindness truly elevated our experience. The hotel itself is a hidden gem—just six beautifully appointed rooms nestled around a serene, lush garden that invites you to unwind and soak in the tranquility. Its unique history as a former Panamanian consulate adds a touch of timeless elegance; you feel as though you've stepped into a bygone era, with all the comforts of modern travel. The location is perfect for exploring, yet peaceful enough to feel like a retreat. We wholeheartedly recommend this special place to anyone seeking a stay that’s both memorable and meaningful. We left early so couldn't try the breakfast. Staff were lovely and helpful. The room was really big with a seating area and well heated and the shower was good. It's a quiet back street, one block from the main street.

What a super place this is! Excellent location, just off Ave. del Prado. Quiet neighbourhood. Wonderful friendly hostess, with time to answer our questions; gave us superb recommendations (for the best fried chicken!), lent us her Teleférico card (which we topped up afterwards). The twin-room was charming and decent size, with a nice hot shower. Parquet floor, charming landing with a bookshelf. We were really pleased with ourselves for booking this hotel.

Great location in the heart of downtown La Paz, easy to walk to gondola and witches market etc. Staff very helpful and accomodating (let us store bags for 4 days while on Amazon trip, organised taxis and laundry etc). Enjoyed the old hotel feel with authentic antique furniture. Breakfast was simple but nice.

Incredible place!! Even though we were right in the middle of town, the place was quiet and perfect for us! Very Clean, the beds were amazing, the breakfast superb and Juan was attentive and very helpful! We will be back!

When you go to La Paz, you need a caring and proactive host. You won't get that with and Airbnb and that could be a real problem with altitude sickness. Same with "5 star" Hotels. The best bet, by far, is the family run Consulado. Add to that, it's a charming 100 year old former consulate with all the period decorations. This hotel and the owners really saved our vacation.
