Ira is an amazing hostess, simply the best. She is authentic and genuinely cares that you feel welcome and have an enjoyable stay. Ira is a fascinating woman and we so much appreciated her hospitality and generosity. Her care and fuss was touching.

Ira was an amazing host. Fussed over us like a mother hen. Maison de la Loire is a unique property. Every piece of furniture is a piece of history. Breakfast was a delightful romantic event with candlelight. The coffee was amazing, and the pastries were lovely and fresh. If you are looking for five-star luxury this is not for you. This is a unique experience which we would gladly repeat.

The host Ira and her son Henri, were so accomadating and friendly, it was as if I was part of their family. Beautiful 14 century property in a historical French town. Be prepared, this is not 5 star hotel but honest and down to earth French hospitality I was leaving at 4 am to motorcycle further south a nd dearest Ira who is like me no longer of youth, insisting on greeting me at 3.30am with crossionts and lovely fresh coffee. Of all the places I stayed I will always remember this one. Thank you Ira.

Decorated with great taste and care, this house looks like something out of a fairytale. It is also a pleasure to meet the lady of the house, Ira, who is very welcoming, helpful, and warm. Right outside her house, you can see the amazing view of the whole town and Loire river. La Charité-sur-Loire is a very beautiful riverside commune, and this charming house is a great place to stay and enjoy your time there.

“A 400 year old family home; a gem”

Ira is a gentile host who makes her guests very welcome. Her home is your home while there and Ira does give you privacy. We were given tea on arrival (most welcome after a long hot cycle) and breakfast was beautifully laid out with good china. There was more than enough food.

The owner is one of the most helpful and kind people you can meet. It was a real pleasure to meet her. The location is beautiful.

The friendliness of the host. Deep rooting discussions on the friendship between German and French people which was easy because the host´s native language was German. The documentations (books, photoes etc.) were proof of Frau Schulze´s activities.The location was very near the sights of La Charite sur Loire (La Prieure etc). The good price (including breakfast!!!) was more than reasonable.

The house was very old and so you have to be realistic. Having said that, the room had all we needed. It was quiet and had basic air conditioning. Ira (the owner) was superb, making us cups of tea upon arrival. Despite being elderly she was full of energy and helped with our cases. In fact she made the night ensuring we had a table at a local restaurant - we forgot to book ahead, then as it was raining heavily brought us an umbrella so we would not get wet on the way home!
