“Lovely stay in a beautiful location”

The location is beautiful and the communication prior to arriving was great. We were well looked after by Walter (the general manager) and we even got a free upgrade (in March 2026) as the property was quiet. We also appreciated being able to use the kitchen.

“Excellent stay”

The płace was amazing in the middle of Green forest. The pool was great. Also there were cooking facilities so worth bringing Products to cook with.

Incredible location, facilities and staff. One of the best places we have stayed in Central America. Walter was an exceptional host who picked us up in La Ceiba, organised rafting and hiking trips and answered and questions we had whilst helping us with our spanish. He also took us to the supermarket and cajero when we arrived which was invaluable. The view from the balcony is stunning and the rooms were spacious and comfy! Vamos a volver!

“Simply amazing”

Truly an amazing place! It feels like you really are in the jungle, the view is unbelievable and the river is right there to swim in. Walter is the best host, he can help you with almost everything. Highy recommend going on the rafting tour with him.

“Great spot for relaxation and adventure.”

We liaised with Walter to pick us up from Wendy's when we arrived at La Ceiba which went perfectly. He took us to an ATM and stopped at the shops so that we could get supplies. Once we arrived at the Rio ,Walter asked if we wanted to stay at the other house as Pepe the owner had suggested it. Man it was fantastic and we can't thank Pepe enough for that. The location and the facilities were first class and we had a great time. Walter sorted the rafting and gave us all the info we needed to have a look around the area and took us back to the ferry when the day came to move on. We would definitely come back here when travelling through Honduras or even a vacation .Thank you so much for your hospitality.

“A true paradise”

Highly recommended! The hosts are wonderful. Walter, who takes care of the hotel, is an absolute gem. He truly takes care of you. He picked me up from the ferry, drove me to the supermarket so I could cook in the spacious kitchen, and one day even took me on a drive through the surrounding area to show me the beautiful little villages. It was such a special experience. The hotel is peaceful and quiet with gorgeous views. The veranda is amazing. I saw two toucans from there and you can always hear the beautiful river in the background. Walter also helped me arrange tours like rafting and hiking, which I highly recommend. I would come back anytime! 💛

Had a great stay here. The room was very big and had space for luggage. There's hot water as well! As the onsite restaurant was closed at the time of our visit (probably due to low season) we were given access to their kitchen to make our own food, which worked well. Walter is super friendly and helpful. The terrace area is very big and has amazing views over the jungle.

I received an upgrade to the riverside apartment with a view of the rainforest and a large waterfall. It was fantastic, a huge apartment with a terrace and kitchen. For one night, I had to move to the second building on the mountain, which I had officially booked. It wasn't quite as nice, but it was cheaper. Walter, the manager, lives with his family in the hotel; he is very courteous and helpful.

“Absolutely amazing!!”

Hotel Rio was the best experience we had so far during our Central America trip. The host Walter (and his wife) will be the kindest person you’ll meet, he does everything he can to make your stay unforgettable. He really takes the time for a thorough conversation or any questions you have about any topic. We got upgraded for free to a bigger amazing room with very comfortable beds. The place has a clean pool, amazing views on the jungle and waterfall. The pickup service is much cheaper than a taxi and the tours are cheaper than the surrounding tour operators. Unfortunately we could only stay two nights due to our itinerary but wished to stay much longer as it is such a beautiful and quiet place. Due to low season the restaurant of the hotel was closed but Walter even offered to do groceries for us. The kitchen is very well equipped with everything you wish for. The place is very well maintained and clean and has several chill out areas with hammocks. Staying at Hotel Rio is not just a recommendation but a must ;) Thanks Walter.

“A really relaxing few days in a beautiful spot”

Great spot by the river. Walter was great - very friendly, helpful and always available We stayed in the off season so they kindly upgraded us to a bigger room. The kitchen was closed but when we were collected from town we were take to a supermarket to buy things to cook ourselves in the kitchen. We had everything we needed and the area was so peaceful and beautiful. The shower was also the hottest and best of our trip in C America. The lodge next door has great water pools by the river and book rafting and hiking trips.

The property was beautiful. We slept listening to the rivers music, in a big and comfortable bed. The pool was refreshing, even more at night and Walter helped us in every query. I would definitely go back and I recommend it to everyone else coming to La Ceiba for a different experience :D

The location was perfect with beautiful views across to the waterfall and national park. The room was large with ceiling fans which were perfectly adequate to keep cool at night without aircon. The beds large and very comfortable and the room very clean. The pool was a lovely addition and the kitchen had most things we needed. Coffee and water was provided for free. The biggest bonus is Walter, the manager. He went over and beyond to help us have a fantastic stay from collecting us from the ferry, organising trips with English speakers and dropping us at the bus station when we left. Nothing was too much trouble. Highly recommend.

We had a wonderful time here and were the only ones there. From the moment we booked, communication was excellent. Walter picked us up and took as grocery shopping. Gorgeous location, amazing views of the National Park, mountains and waterfall. Lovely pool area and big communal space. We were upgraded to a larger room for free which was very generous! Walter was great and helped to organise hiking trips and white water rafting, both of which were fantastic!!

Amazing place to stay right in the jungle. The property and pool were beautiful and surrounded by wildlife. Walter was a fantastic host with great communication and even let us borrow his binoculars so we could see the Toucans. The hotel has access to the river where you can go rafting, plus there is a lovely walking trail starting inside the hotel grounds. One of the best places we’ve stayed.
