“Amazing typical house”
Incredibile place. Beautiful typical Japanese home. We slept on futon, wore yukata and bath in the private ofuro of the house. Definitely worth the price for one night.

“A brilliant atmosphere, with lovely owners. Thoroughly enjoyed myself.”
The ryokan was beautiful. The history of the house was lovely to listen to, and the owners were so accommodating, not to mention the bath was amazing. I wish I could’ve stayed longer, ten out of ten would recommend.

1) The location, the traditional atmosphere. The ryokan is beautiful (140 years old), in the center from Kyoto and only 15 minutes from Kyoto train station. 2) The owners were to some extent helpful and welcoming. They helped us to send our suitcases through Takyubin services. 3) The room was super clean, the beds comfortable and we had our own bathroom and toilets. 4) We have also been welcomed by a nice cup of green tea with little rice cookies.

Staying at Yadoya Kikokuso was a truly special and meaningful experience. The opportunity to live within a traditional Japanese room, to sleep on a futon, and to immerse oneself in such an authentic setting is a rare cultural gift. The room was beautiful, serene, and rich in atmosphere, allowing me to experience a way of living deeply rooted in Japanese tradition. Every space in the ryokan is thoughtfully maintained and full of quiet beauty — from the guest rooms to the breakfast room, which is itself a peaceful and elegant place to begin the day. There is a feeling throughout the ryokan of time being gently suspended, creating an atmosphere of calm, respect, and contemplation. The kindness and courtesy of the owners added greatly to the experience. Their warmth, discretion, and care made me feel welcomed and respected, and contributed to the sense of staying in a place guided by tradition and genuine hospitality. Yadoya Kikokuso is not just accommodation, but a cultural experience — one that I will remember with gratitude and that I would wholeheartedly recommend to anyone wishing to experience the timeless soul of Kyoto. Thank you for such a memorable stay. Federica

“Perfect little Ryokan with the most friendly hosts”
The hosts were lovely, they were very friendly and we felt very welcome in their home. The room was spacious and comfortable, and the properties traditional garden is beautiful. We also really enjoyed having the green tea waiting for us each time we got back.

It's a beautiful family-owned ryokan. We were warmly welcomed and enjoyed the whole stay. Throughout our whole journey in Japan this place was the most traditional and authentic, to great extent thanks to courtesy of the owners. Even though we spent only two days here, I am sure we'll remember it for life.

“Beautiful ryokan run by the nicest people you can imagine!”
A beautiful traditional ryokan run by a Japanese couple where you feel welcome directly when you are stepping through the door. They are such kind and friendly people, they care about you and explain everything in detail. We liked the tatami floor traditional rooms, the whole atmosphere and having private bathing time in the “ofuro” which is a hot bath where you can relax. We booked a traditional Japanese breakfast in addition and this was very good and an authentic experience as well.
