“Fantastic stay in Kyoto”
This was by far, the best stay of our Japan trip. The hotel and room exceeded our expectations. We were there for 4 nights and could easily stay longer, especially with the onsen which we had the privilege to have in our room. We really enjoyed our stay, recommended it to all our friends, and we will be back the next time we come to Kyoto. - Venusia

“Absolutely excellent!”
What a wonderful experience. We stayed as a couple and highly recommend the Bettei hotel. Central area and yet very peaceful. Our room had a private Onsen, free of charge mini bar, comfortable terrace and lots of space. The service was impeccable! Especially the reception team and check in experience made us feel so welcome. Breakfast was the best we had in Japan. If we come back to Kyoto, we are looking forward to booking again!

“Absolutely exceptional experience for our anniversary trip.”
Love the location, the ryokan-style hotel, and the friendly and competent staff. The breakfast is amazing, and the Higashiyama Kaiseki dining experience was pricey but exceptional. Loved that we could go out and see the sights if we wanted to, or just rest inside and relax in the onsen bath.

fantastic suite room with view on gion and the surrounding mountains- location at the entance of Gion- The hotel restaurant also great for a reasonnable price- have to reserve 3 days in advance except for business rooms!! even found ba vry nice restaurant teppanyaki next to the hotel!

They really make an effort to make your stay memorable and enjoyable. Taking care of all small details. Especially, I would like to note that the beds, blankets and bed linens are so soft and comfy, you sleep like you are in paradise. Traditional Japanese breakfast, helps you to indulge and experience the best of Japan. Choosing the plates and decorating the dishes to create an esthetic impression. Dinner was amazing. Tasty, and beautiful.

“Excellent location with an en-suite onsen that one can ever imagine”
The location was excellent! This was our second time visiting Kyoto. Our first time staying in the Gion area, and Sora Niwa's location was better. It is close to the shopping area, and many heritage sites are within 30 minutes' walking distance. As a tourist who doesn't like to drive, this hotel is ideal. Their breakfast was also amazing. It's Keisei-style with freshly made dishes, which brought tears to my eyes. So delicious and pretty to look at. Did I mention that we booked the on-site onsen? This was the best decision I made for this trip. After a long walk on a rainy day, soaking in your own hot tub was the most recharging thing to do. Highly recommended!

“A unique hotel with great staff. Room 84 best in the hotel. Hope to return.”
The staff and hotel room were exceptional. Wonderful views over Kyoto from the rooms & especially the roof top bar - dress up warm if it is chilly, or wet! There is no shelter but there are hot spring foot baths! Having a private spring fed bath directly off our bathroom - effectively on our balcony was a real luxury - facing out across the mountains you could admire the view or keep the screens closed for complete privacy.

i think everyone should treat themselves to a private onsen experience at least once in their lives and this hotel is perfect for it. you get peace and privacy in the hotel but you also get to enjoy the bustling area of Kawaramachi. rooms were also fully fitted with all the amenities you’d ever need! i’d definitely come back here if i have the means again (:
