Excellent experience! A great way to have a taste of Japanese tradition: tea ceremony, onsen, yukata wearing, futon. The staff was very kind and friendly, highly recommended!

The hosts were exceptionally gracious and lovely, not least for the fact that we arrived before check in and they were very helpful and took care of our luggage. I was terribly sorry when I realised I had not read a message they had sent about check in but they were nonetheless very pleasant despite my error. The Japanese bath on our first evening there and following tea ceremony were a fantastic experience. Breakfasts were fantastic and the style of green tea served has become a new favourite.

“Wonderful option with a window to Japanese culture and warm hospitality.”

We absolutely enjoyed and were humbled by the hospitality. We were welcomed with a hot tea and cookies, escorted to our rooms and familiarised with the amenities. The hostess performed a soothing tea ceremony after we changed into our Yukatas and explained a brief history behind the ritual of the tea ceremony. The rooms were wonderfully scented with incense, had a simple but charming decor and were extremely clean. The beds were so comfortable - it felt like sleeping in a cocoon of clouds. The breakfast was meticulously prepared - if you looked closely you would see the fine layers of the omelette. It was an extremely zen experience and we felt like we were welcomed in a home rather than a commercial establishment. Thank you very much!

We were looked after so beautifully during our stay. Within a very short time of arriving, our hosts shared a tea ceremony with us and had drawn us a wonderful onsen. We received hugely helpful advice and recommendations and the property is warm and elegantly presented throughout.

I like the mix of old and modern styles for the design. Also traditional breakfast was so good! They also give us a lot of privacy, which is good. The service is absolutely good.

Breakfast was perfect, so simple yet so delicious and perfect to start a busy day in Kyoto. Take the local recommendations! You’ll have a far better time than following the tourist traps.

Best experience in Kyoto, such a calm place in a very non-touristy area. The tea ceremony was superb and the traditional japanese breakfast was delicious. Also - The dinner recommendations from the staff were excellent, best meal in Japan! ❤️

We really liked the hosts warm hospitality and the traditional tea ceremony welcoming us to their Ryokan. The hot bath at the end of each day was also a great way to relax after lots of walking. The breakfast (Japanese) was also delicious and was a little different each morning. Had some of the best tofu we have ever tasted. The hosts really make an effort to make you feel welcome and at home. Providing you with good tips for exploring the area. This was our absolute favourite stay in Japan.
