The hotel is located in a prime riverside position, offering beautiful views and a peaceful atmosphere. The traditional Japanese-style rooms provided an immersive cultural experience. The on-site onsen was a highlight, and I enjoyed visiting both in the evening and again the following morning. The staff were exceptionally friendly and welcoming. With only a small number of rooms, the property felt quiet and exclusive—I only encountered one other guest during my 36-hour stay.

“Great place for relaxing and winding down.”
The ryokan is situated right outside of Arashiyama, which gives an amazing view of the forest and the mountain. It also means that it's quiet at night, and we had very peaceful sleep during our stay here. The staffs were also very professional and provided us with great service.

“Below my expectation; surprisingly rude service.”
Nicely located, surrounding feels peaceful and relaxing. Lots of interesting shops around. Room is reasonably sized and the private in-room bath is quite nice. Decorations are in traditional Japanese style which is nice.

“Zen”
I loved the detailed service, the room and all the facilities. My favourite part was the location, so quiet and calm. Very accessible to the bamboo forest and station. Food was delicious and gave me the chance to try dishes I would never have picked on my own.

This ryokan is a true sanctuary of peace and quiet. From the moment I arrived, I felt completely at ease, and my stay was deeply restful and recharging. The staff were exceptionally attentive, always anticipating needs with genuine warmth and care. The daily breakfast and kaiseki dinner were a joy to look forward to—delicious, thoughtfully balanced, and made with ingredients that felt both fresh and wholesome. I was especially touched by the thoughtful gesture from the staff who, after noticing my bday on my passport, kindly added a special dish to my kaiseki dinner. It was an unexpected and heartfelt surprise that made my stay even more memorable. Thank you to the entire team for such a meaningful and unforgettable experience.

“Great staff and a perfect stay!”
It was perfect! I was welcomed so friendly by the staff, who was very attentive and kind the whole time. I never experienced such a warm hospitality. I was travelling alone and thought the single room would be small but it was really big and just stunning! The vibe of the hotel was very relaxing and everything was super clean. I could even enjoy the onsen for myself. The keiseki dinner and breakfast were phenomenal! A real experience. I hope I can come back one day. Thank you for everything!

“Superb experience”
This is hands down the best hotel I’ve ever stayed at. Everything was so well taken care off, the whole experience was just superb. From the design of the building, to the beautiful room, the little private zen gardens, the location in Arashiyama. The staff was friendly, professional and kind. I felt incredibly relaxed and serene during my stay. And then there was the dinner and breakfast. Every dish was special, featuring local ingredients and cuisine, artistically presented and prepared to perfection.

Authentic Japanese welcoming in traditional surroundings with modern touches. Enjoyed our in-room spa overlooking the rear garden with enough privacy (out in open air).

“Memorable experience”
Our stay was a real highlight of our time in Japan. The atmosphere was calm and welcoming, the room was beautifully designed with traditional touches, and the service was attentive and thoughtful throughout. We also opted for the traditional dinner (an additional cost), which turned out to be a great choice. The hotel reached out in advance to check for any dietary requirements, and each course was carefully prepared and beautifully presented—definitely a memorable part of our trip. A very special experience and we’re really glad we included it in our trip.
