“Ryokan experience for great value for money!”

The nicest experience staying at a traditional ryokan! The toilet/shower sharing was perfect, everything was impeccable clean and organized, and the host was the friendliest! We felt at home and would love to come back one day.

“Amazing stay at Rakucho Ryokan”

Katsunori-san is the heart and soul of Rakucho Ryokan. Always friendly and helpful, maintaining the Ryokan in perfect shape. The rooms are good, with a mini-fridge, futons, and space to have your bags. The location is good if you want peace after a day of going around Kyoto. If you want to be in the center of it all, then maybe not for you. It's more easily reachable by bus, and has a couple of Konbini about 7-10 minutes away. The cleanliness was also amazing

The host was incredibly welcoming, helpful and friendly throughout our stay. The room was spacious and beautiful and we woke up to the view of the garden everyday. The futons had extra mattress, making it super comfortable and extra blankets as well. Good location away from the hustle and bustle, but not too far away from central activities.

Great, simple and clean ryokan. Shared facilities are ample and good quality. Out of town but close to bus stops and the subway is 900m away. Good local food options, and many good sites are easy to visit from here. Very helpful staff. They also have the 1 day bus and subway passes available for purchase.

Rakucho Ryokan is very traditional and enchanting with the owner being very helpful and attentive! Room is incredibly spacious with nice tatami and comfortable futon.

The perfect Kyoto experience if you want to feel the authentic and traditional house with the friendliest owner while still living 2 minutes away from a convenient bus stop, close to both the nature and the city. Would definitely recommend

Incredibly kind and friendly host, well-equipped bathrooms and a gorgeous, traditional room. Slightly out of the centre, but close to Kyoto concert hall, great restaurants and public transport links. I would absolutely recommend :)

What a cool place to stay. Beautiful rooms, and the bed was very comfortable. A lovely wee garden out back. I was a bit skeptical of shared toilets but they were nice and clean and never had to wait. The owner is very friendly and accommodating.

I loved the host, he was so friendly and sweet! Everytime we came back to the ryokan he greeted us with a friendly smile and was happy to give recommendations for things to see and do. The room was very clean, tidy, and comfortable. The location was perfect too, close to Kitaoji Station, or buses just a short walk away. The shared bathrooms were incredibly clean and spacious. We will definitely be back!
