One of, if not the best place we stayed at in Japan. A truly authentic and beautiful family-run stay in Kyoto. The accommodation was huge by Japanese standards — essentially half of a traditional house, designed with immaculate attention to detail, with lovely gardens on both sides. Sleeping on tatami and incredibly comfortable futons was a wonderful experience, and breakfasts were absolutely amazing. What made this place truly unforgettable, though, was the family running it. Everyone was exceptionally kind and welcoming. During our stay, we had a dental emergency, and Sei-san went far beyond anything we could have expected — driving us to the clinic, helping translate, and turning a stressful situation into something manageable and comforting. Their hospitality is genuinely extraordinary. Staying here was the highlight of our time in Kyoto, and I would recommend it wholeheartedly to anyone.

Hopefully you've found this beautiful Japanese home run by a wonderful, kind family. It truly was one of the best places I've ever stayed in. The attention to detail , the hospitality and the family themselves were all spectacular. The breakfast simply was world class, probably the best I've had anywhere in the world. The bathroom is fantastic too. Lovely wooden bath and beautiful product for showering. I cannot wait to come back to visit, it was right in the heart of gion within walking distance of amazing restaurants. Honestly, don't even think about it , if Jeugiya is available... book it now !

We loved the breakfast and the wooden bath. We were very welcomed at arrival and shown around where to start our adventure. We were also sent to the Shinkanshe station with a super clean, comfortable car. Jeugiya family is so friendly and accommodating. It's very special experience.

Very nice hosts. Cosy stay. Wish i can stay for longer. I love the bath tub the most - the ryokan has a woody smell and it feels relaxing every-time we reached home after a long day of walking.

This place! These people! We had the most beautyful, comfortable, delicious and cozy stay here. The hosting family is really one of a kind, so generous, welcoming and caring. Making sure we had everything we needed and then some. And the house and garden are truly beautyful and relaxing. We could easily have stayed here much longer and I wish I could rate it much higher than 10. If you have the chance, stay at Jeugiya inn!

The breakfast was sensational - a true Japanese style which was fresh and prepared with such care and high standard. The rooms were of a very clean and comfortable standard - bedding also being very comfortable and cosy. Amenities had everything you could need. It was such a special, relaxing and homely stay. My teen daughters said it was the favourite part of their entire trip! They/we felt so welcome and at home. The home is so well preserved with modern conveniences you'd get at any top hotel, except this experience is far richer and more special. The location was simply unbeatable - literally in the Geisha district in the centre of Gion. But also super close to the river to cross over and experiences the vibe of bustling Kyoto city.

The hospitality of the family was just outstanding. It was the best we ever had. The family is so polite and kind hearted. The father helped us and showed us around and even drove us to a place for sightseeing. His son for example helped me to surprise my brother with a cake for his birthday. The mother of him was super cute as well and very polite and they helped us with everything we needed to make our stay the best possible. I never experienced such great hospitality at another place. I definitely recommend Jeugiya. The accommodation is just so beautiful and well maintained. I was very happy to stay there. Everything was just perfect! 💕

We would highly recommend staying at Jeugiya Inn. The family hosts are incredibly accommodating, provide a high level of service while also respecting your privacy. Masumi's breakfast was delicious. Bunichi provided us with guidance on sightseeing and maps. Seiichiro generously drove us to destinations and chatted about the history of the family and inn. (I hope I spelt your names correctly). All this while experiencing a traditional Kyoto inn. The level of comfort is 5 star but the service is beyond. We were recommended it by friends and we will be doing the same. Believe the reviews.

“Highly recommended this property for a family of four, or two couples. Exceptional!”

The family who run the accommodation are absolutely delightful. So generous, kind and accommodating. We were taken on a short tour of Kyoto on arrival, which helped us get oriented. We were shown how to get the train and which cultural sights to see. The accommodation was superb, comfy beds and beautiful ambience. Breakfast was very generous, traditional and delicious. Our hosts took photos of us as a group on arrival and in the garden when we left. Very kind and thoughtful throughout.
