This hotel was truly quiet and sophisticated luxury. They take care of you from beginning and have thought of everything. Located off the main strip on a quiet, quintessential Japanese street, convenient, but serene. The ryukan itself is absolutely breathtaking in its simplistic bamboo clean aesthetic. I sound like I was paid or I do this professionally, but I definitely don't and definitely wasn't sponsored or paid. I came to Japan with a friend to travel around and someone canceled, so we got lucky and booked this place. I have traveled the world and I can easily say this was one of the nicest hotels/lodgings that I have ever stayed at. Aesop shampoo/conditioner/soaps, highest quality turkish feeling towels, heated floors, top quality teas and Japanese liquors at the quaint, quiet bar. The staff was so friendly and kind. Seriously amazing experience. I cried when I left.

“Incredible stay”

This ryokan met, and even exceeded our expectations. The staff were incredibly friendly and always available to help and answer questions. The room was fantastic, and the location was perfect. We loved waking up early to enjoy the calm of the old streets before the crowds arrived, then returning to the room to relax. The futons were very comfortable, and we especially loved the bathroom, particularly the bath, which stayed hot even hours later.

An exceptional property! In a quiet, quaint allyway away from the hustle and bustle of Kyoto. Everything about the property is so beautiful, very clean, and thoughtful. We celebrated my partners birthday here and the staff helped me prepare a surprise for our room. The best part is the staff- so helpful, welcoming and friendly. I would highly recommend this property for a special occasion stay. It was our favorite stay in Japan.

If you want the experience of a traditional Ryoken in a location that looks as though you stepped right out of "Shogun", with a warm and welcoming and certainly attentive staff, this place is the one. The attention to detail is unsurpassed. After a week of hustling in and around Japan, we treated ourselves to a traditional Ryoken. Here you will find comfort, indulgence and space. The wooden bath is the icing on the cake. The in-room formal breakfast is the most luxurious experience. Everything was 'just so'. And the little basic ramen shop on the corner is the least expensive and least 'frilly' - but delicious. I cannot rave enough about this place.

Breakfast was lovely, and the bathtub was excellent! We had a very comfortable and relaxed stay - would definitely stay again. Location was close to main attractions and easy to find. Great to be able to store our luggage after arrival/before leaving.
