Cozy, homely and feel so relaxed and welcomed there. Though there was a language barrier, staff was very patient and we used Google translate to communicate. Food was superb and the bed was very comfortable.

“Exceptionally intimate ryokan & onsen experience”

First, the ryokan itself. They have only seven rooms, each with its dedicated dining room and private onsen (outside the room). That alone should convince you this is not going to be just any ordinary ryokan, at the opposite spectrum from bigger but more crowded hotels full of tourists. Ekinariya Ryokan will only provide the finest service Japan can provide : an intimate and exceptional experience, pretty much one to one. The room, Fuji no Ma, was very spacious and very well located near the stairs and baths. The private onsen was also exquisite; but if you wish to bathe in the common onsen, you can have it all for yourself since it's all other customers would use their private onsen instead. The dinner experience was also exceptional in all aspects, in a private dining room, seated on tatami with fine kaiseki japanese cuisine. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful, available at all times, providing a perfect service. As for the location, it couldn't be more convenient : a few dozen meters from the Yubatake. You just couldn't be closer with a more intimate and lovely place to stay. There is definitely no other ryokan I would book next time I'll go to Kusatsu Onsen.
