We stayed at the loft for two nights in April with our kids (ages 7 and 3), and it was truly a unique and memorable experience—we absolutely loved it! The food was delicious, and the caretakers, Mahinda and Sunitha, were incredibly warm and hospitable. There's plenty to do around the property, but even if you just want to unwind, it's a perfect spot. The cool breeze and lush greenery create such a peaceful and refreshing atmosphere. While there’s no A/C, the fans worked well as long as the windows were left open to let the breeze in. Just remember to use the nets at night to keep out small insects—nothing alarming, just something to be mindful of in a nature-filled setting.

The food was quite tasty, the couple Mahinda and Suneetha prepares the food out of their soul and tries their best to make the stay memorable. The ingredients (Vegetables, tank fish) are sourced locally and fresh. The food is very good and especially when you want to try local Sri Lankan food (Game kema). The location is absolutely stunning surrounded by many lakes and kids loved swimming in lakes than getting in to a pool. The location has a view of the mountain (morning gets covered with mist), a lake in front (frequented by so many varieties birds), and a paddy field in front. There is so much of green space to relax the mind. The night is very quiet and relaxing. So much of things to keep the kids occupied with lake baths, cycling, visiting a Chena for experience etc. I took it as an opportunity to show my children and let them experience typical Sri Lankan village life, Village food and what it is to live closer to nature. The owner, Hareendra genuinely tries to make sure you are well looked after and coordinates with Mahinda and Suneetha. The couple puts every effort to make sure all your requirements are met and you are satisfied. It was a memorable stay and definitely will be travelling again.

“Tranquility at its best”

Loft by the Lake offered the most peaceful time in rural Sri Lanka, surrounded by beautiful tanks and paddy fields. Situated in an idyllic spot by the Ehetuwewa tank, the Loft was cosy and comfortable with great views of the surrounding area. The caretakers, Mahinda and Sunitha looked after all our needs with a smile. They made sure that we had delicious Sri Lankan meals and also accompanied us to a quiet spot to watch the sunset and to find the best bathing spots. Because there was no light pollution, the night skies were beautiful! And the dawn chorus offered us the most unusual bird calls! Bird life was in abundance and a family of Grey Hornbills (alu kadatta) flying right in front of our eyes was a fascinating experience :) We will be back soon to explore more!

The loft was beyond expectations. A simple, rustic but comfortable and lovely place. The view from the lodge and the surroundings was beautiful. No AC, but who needs AC when there's a cool breeze that can literally blow you away all day long? Rooms and bathrooms were very clean. The staff is amazing. Lovely food. Awesome location. We are already missing the lovely breeze... Highly Recommended

For our kids, it was a dream come true. The 'mini adventures' around the property kept them thrilled and engaged. They loved the nature walks, where they could explore the beautiful surroundings, and bathing in the tank was an absolute hit! They were also thrilled to see elephants in their natural habitat, which was an educational and exciting experience for them. As for relaxation, this place is a sanctuary for rejuvenation. The serene environment, coupled with the comforting ambiance of the loft, allowed us to unwind and recharge. Every evening was a peaceful retreat by the lake, where we could soak in the tranquility and beauty of nature. The balance between adventure and relaxation at Loft by the Lake is impeccable, making it an ideal destination for families looking for a unique and fulfilling holiday experience.
