Brilliant value for money. Excellent facilities for cyclists

“... your kids will love it!”

Yes, this is large hotel has seen better days, indeed - like 40 years ago, when this was a winter sport mekka for the few East Germans more equal than the others. But there is not only history and weird liminal spaces to appreciate, but along with the very rustic charme comes an almost anarchic new approach ... and your kids will love it. A large enclosure below th stairway in the lobby houses huge rabbits an a dozens of guinea pigs of all ages and sizes. See wandering alpacas from the windows of the large swimming pool. And good luck trying to drag your kids from the rabbit petting enclosures in front of the hotel, from the old bob sleighs in the hallways, the pool tables, the old bowling alley, the infra red shooting range, the play rooms ... but you must! There is a beautiful moorland all around this remote hotel that needs to be explored, there are a great rocks to climb, the Lugstein, the hotel was named after. And if you don't fancy the buffet lunch and buffet dinner the hotel offers - I can say that the breakfast was pretty decent - the Czech border and beyond small Cínovec with a few good bohemian restaurants is but few minutes walk. To summarize: this hotel and its surroundings have a lot to offer, in partiicular when traveling with kids, to completely overlook the cracks and bends in its aged interiors. Also, of course, the good rate (somewhat above the rates of a fancier youth hostel) helped.

Well, I don't even know... Perhaps for this minimal money of 50eur someone will say, what did you want? but you could at least clean the carpet once a year, it's scary (photo attached) A spacious room, and that’s probably it. Free parking is available about 100–200 meters from the lodging. You can stay overnight, as long as you’re cautious.

The price/value and the breakfast was good enought

The most positive in the hotel was friendly staff, nice location as a good point for trips to the nature and free access to sauna (that looks good) and pool. From the hotel is not far to nice walks, located on the border between CZ/DE. Nice view from the room (203) to the landscape. Room was cleaned well.

The guinea pigs, the rabbits, the story surrounding the place, the beds, the view, table tennis, very good breakfast.

Going through booking.com, we didn’t realise that a bogus picture of the hotel was shown and once we checked in we were directed in an out of hotel “cattle -shed”. It smelt more like a farm house not cleaned or aired for months,

This hotel is clearly built for wintersport guests but can definitely be recommended for guests in summer as well. The hotel has come into the years and hence has a bit of an outdated interior but it is all still acceptable and prices are reflecting this. The hotel has quite some facilities and kids will love the animals around as well as the playground. The bar is nice and it is a pity it is small. The indoor pool is great as well

“A unique place with excellent staff.”

This is an old DDR sports hotel. It's not the most plush or luxurious, but it's great. It has an almost unique charm. Its a little remote and there did not seem to be any restaurants or bars within walking distance but the hotel had everything that we needed.There was plenty of parking, our motorbikes had spaces right outside the entrance. And there is ample parking for cars. It has a nice little bar with cold beer at reasonable prices and a terrace as well as a beer garden. Although we hadn't booked and evening meal in advance the staff (all of whom were terrific) managed to squeeze us in. The meal itself was good enough although there was very little variety. Breakfast the next morning was very good. At first glance the hotel looks a little tired as the facade is falling apart but the bed was comfortable and the en-suite had a bath! Which was great. Don't expect luxury as this place was designed for sportsmen/women 50 years ago. - It has a ski museum and a bobslegh in one of the corridors! - But for us it was fine. And the price was fantastic value..During the evening they also had a very good band playing music to ourselves and half a dozen elderly German couples. One oddity was that outside the main entrance, and in the reception area were a number of pens containing live rabbits. I,ve no idea why but it added to the slightly odd feel to the place. If you want to stay somewhere that will give you good memories rather than a bland impersonal hotel this is the place for you. I thought it was great.

The hotel is not bad, but very old. At the reception there was a nice young man who spoke excellent English. I also remember the barman, who will please you all and is a very nice person. But in the kitchen the woman told us to get out and it was in a very rude manner... Not recommended for visiting

A real winter wonderland just 2 hours drive from Berlin. We got an upgrade to a nice room with a private sauna and really enjoyed our stay. The hotel seems to be loved by families with kids and dogs (it’s pet friendly). There are many trails for hiking and cross-country ski that start right near the hotel. There are also cute farm animals in and around the hotel :)

Animals around the hotel are very nice, specially when you travel with kids. Personal is always ready to help and are very polite. Even though infraestructure is very old, it's kept very clean

The room is small but very comfortable. We had one where the sheep are below the window. The saune is available on Fri and Sat The swimming pool is open every day Both are free The breakfast was great 👍 There is also additional menu for kids: pancakes, sweet jelly or cake. We also had dinner included into price. Dinner is also a good choice and all food is not ft, so if one follows dietary restrictions, it will be just perfect. Both fish and meat available as well as salads and soups. There are lots of things to do, paths for tracking just behind, animals always here. We heard some sheep at night 😊 that was great like in a quiet village.
