Overview
Located in the Kurashiki Bikan Historical Quarter, Ryori Ryokan Tsurugata offers Japanese-style accommodations in a historical building from the Edo period. Free Wi-Fi is available at the public areas and guests can relax in the public baths. JR Kurashiki Train Station is a 10-minute walk away. The air-conditioned rooms feature tatami (woven-straw) floors and Japanese futon bedding. Each comes with a seating area with low tables and a flat-screen TV. Japanese Yukata robes and toothbrush sets are provided for all guests and the en suite bathroom comes with a hairdryer. Massages can be requested for an extra cost and local souvenirs can be purchased at the gift shop. Photocopying services and luggage storage is offered at the front desk. Guests can look out into the traditional garden and relax. Traditional multi-course meals are served for dinner and a Japanese set menu for breakfast. Meals are served at the guests' room. Tsurugata Ryori Ryokan is a 2-minute walk from Ohara Museum of Art and a 5-minute walk from Kurashiki Ivy Square. Achi Shrine is also a 5-minute walk away.

“we liked it; 2nd time in ryokan; this was the best, gorgeous property run by a good crew”
location, right on the river and heart of old Kurashiki; also liked that the old-property-feel gave a sense of the history of the place; staff were strict about rules which was was fair for an old historical building; staff very kind and polite and remembered to let us visit the garden when it was available; we used the on-site onsen, neet & tidy, well organised

“Exceptional experience”
The whole experience was amazing. Both the house & gardens are exceptional. All staff were welcoming and helpful. Kuma in particular went out of his way to help us and we could not be more grateful.

This accomodation was just something else! What a stay! I assumed it is going to be beautiful but nothing can prepare you for the calm and wonderful ryokan right next to one of the most romantic canals ever. The food is also superb, as well as the onsen. Also, Kurashiki is a super nice small town where you can enjoy shopping, go to pottery class or just chill with amazing food and coffee (there are several great spots). Also, Kurashiki has got an outlet centrum nearby so you can buy some stuff pretty cheap. I loved it!

“So lucky to find this ryokan, I’d stay again!”
What a great find. The location is superb as it is right in the Kurashiki Bikan Historical Quarter. The staff were fantastic and attended to my needs so well. My stay was for three nights and my plan included breakfast and dinner. Dinner is brought to your room and the staff explained it beautifully. You’re also provided with a menu. My room was awesome and very comfortable. The futon is very comfortable and you are provided with a sweet little lamp. The ryokan itself is stunning with beautiful polished wood floors and tatami mats in your room. I can’t commend this place highly enough.

“Beautiful traditional Ryokan stay in central Kurashiki”
Beautiful traditional interiors and room. A Ryokan in central Kurashiki, opening on to the canal. Excellent breakfast and dinner. Lovely public bath, sitting area with coffee. Staff were welcoming and caring with no request too great. Front of house management were particularly professional and courteous.

“Japanese experience”
Wonderful staff and place. I totally recommend this as a Japanese experience. The onsen is delicious as well as the food. The futon was more comfortable than others I've had on this trip. Being here made me feel grateful for being alive.

“Perfect ryokan stay in Kurashiki”
The facility was very clean and the staff was exceptionally helpful and polite. The included dinner was very traditional and delicious. The ryokan is located perfectly within the historical quarter, so I very much recommend this place! We even got served tea after arrival and got our futons made for us during dinner time.
