Wonderful place!!!!

“Loved it. Very authentic experience in a beautiful part of Japan.”

This was one of our favourite stays in all of Japan. The property is a beautifully restored historical building, which gives the whole experience a very authentic feel. The staff were super friendly and helpful. The beds were ultra comfortable. It even had my favourite of all Japanese toilets - when you stagger to the bathroon in the middle of the night the toilet lid automatically opens and the bowl is illuminated with a soft uv light - super useful and very gentle on the eyes. A short walk away is ome of the best espresso style coffee we found anywhere. And there are heaps of excellent food options nearby - from street food to high end. We were extremely lucky to score a last-minute reservation at the downstairs restaurant where we were told is usually booked out months in advance - a magnificently unique experience delivered by a michelin chef. We spent five nights here as a central point to also do some day trips around Kyushu. Some of the coastal and mountain scenery was a great contrast to the city sights.

The aesthetics and design of the place were intriguing. Anna-san the manager is very hospitable and caring.

One staff member Anna was very helpful, kind and really tried to make our stay comfortable. Location is between Kumamoto station and Sakuramachi which are the two main areas. Little bit of walking involved. The hotel is nicely decorated with calligraphy and nicely designed. drink upon arrival was a nice touch.

It's a GORGEOUS hotel in an expertly renovated building. The staff were excellent and attentive. They do a great job of prepping you for your stay (noise, etc.). We didn't experience much noise but they provide earplugs if you need them. The welcome drink and treat was a nice touch and they gave us an excellent recommendation for a nearby izakaya.

“A gorgeous and creatively inspiring stay”

This is an absolutely beautiful place to stay. The architecture and design details are stunning – I felt creatively inspired, just by being there! And it was so lovely to be greeted with a tasting of shōchū (the local drink made from sweet potatoes) and a delicious mochi before I wound down for the night. As it’s an old house made of wood, guests should be considerate of others and keep the noise levels down after 9pm, and I found this worked well. It’s also very well located – only about a 10/15 min walk to the train station, and also convenient for seeing the main sights. The hotel also has fabulous food and shopping recommendations – I had a wonderful dinner based on their tips!

Welcoming and beautifully restored!

The interior was an architect’s dream. Very calm environment. The welcoming drink and japanese sweets were great.

Tudzura Hotel is such a hidden gem. Not flashy, but super charming, dreamy, and incredibly clean. The staff are amazing — warm, welcoming, and you can really feel their sincerity. I loved the sake welcome drink and tasting, such a thoughtful touch. The only downside is that it’s an old building, so the walls are thin. I was woken up at 12am and 2am by showers and laughter — I guess not everyone has the same sense of quiet hours (is there really that much going on after 8pm? in the area? Maybe I’m outdated 😂). Still, I truly love the vibe and the people here. I’d definitely stay again — just hoping fellow guests keep it a little quieter next time.

Stylish surroundings, friendly staff and comfortable beds. A very short walk from Kumamoto's primary transportation hub, and while this establishment does not have laundry facilities, you can use the cheap 24h facilities located nearby.

The staff are extremely welcoming us and friendly. although there is no elevator in the hotel but staff was so kind to carry our luggage! not to mention the welcome drink and mochi! Room declaration is superb and it fits so well with the history of the building

Beautiful restored wooden house with design furniture throughout the hotel. You can really see the love that went into it.The people were so kind and nice, which really made our stay even nicer. Wonderful bathroom and nice matrasses. They are big sake lovers, and we got to taste an amazing sake. Recommened to do the sake tasting.
