“The only hotel I went out of my way to book a second time”

The only place I've deliberately booked twice, just because of how nice the first stay was. It is an old but beautiful building, right in the middle of a temple. Despite its age it offers just about any modern amenity you could wish for. However by far the best thing about this place is its owner. Just a wonderful lady all around, whose passion is caring for this abode and its guests. If you can book with breakfast, please do! It is a home-cooked traditional Japanese breakfast, made fresh every day. I even got it for free, because she forgot to tell about the pick-up service and she felt bad that I had to walk.

“Authentic, warm and beautiful”

This was my first experience staying in a Minshuku and I wish I stayed longer. The staff were super lovely and accomodating. As a solo female traveller I felt safe and the instructions sent to me by the host were really helpful too. The breakfast was an absolute steal, it was delicious and there was a lot variety. The area can appear to be eerie but there’s a lot of beauty in it too. This is a very authentic experience and I would highly encourage everyone to stay and visit.

Everything was excellent and as advertised. The room was VERY spacious, the additional breakfast was delicious, and the house itself was charming. The host, Ms. Yoko, was very kind, informative, and attentive.

Minshuku Hiroshiyama was absolutely fabulous. Firstly, the hospitality was perfect - achieving the balance of care, information, and contact with privacy and space to enjoy the amazing interior and views of Kumumoto from the room. Breakfast was outstanding. I would come back to Kumumoto just to stay here. Stunning location and amazing value.

“Minshuku Hiroshimaya close to heaven”

Yoko-san is so friendly and welcoming. Her traditional family home, located right next to the temple is beautiful and very clean. Meals are not available but Yoko is clear in communicating this beforehand and encourages guests to eat in their rooms.

Amazing room

Amazing hospitality and the most authentic experience we had. Basically, you stay in a huge temple complex on top of a mountain. Doesn't get cooler than that. Feels kind of like living in a Japanese medival novel, especially since you get yukatas to wear. The host is very kind!

“Phenomenal, traditional accomodation”

The area was phenomenal and Yuko out host was so lovely! Definitely a worth a visit and we hope to return. We were the only guests there and the room was so large It didn't feel like a sharehouse. My partner and I were initially wary as we don't typically go for these kind of stays but it has been the best of the trip. The house is in a gorgeous temple area and the bathroom is the best I've ever seen, absolutely huge! Thank you so much for this stay!

“Great place, little far from the centre”

The place is comfortable and welcoming. The lady who runs it is very kind and nice. I still didn't have dinner when I arrived and she made me an onigiri. Also, I had a couple of bags with me and she really did give me a hand. It's a place in which you can feel how it is to be in a japanese traditional house. The atmosphere is very familiar too. I recommend it 10/10 if you come here!

It’s about 20min from the bus stop, but the walk was very enjoyable, the vibes of the cemetery/temple on the way felt like I am on an adventure! Anyways the ladies at the house were very kind and lovely, I loved the room and the view was amazing! Everything went well ^_^

The room was big and beautifully appointed in traditional Japanese style. The breakfast was an excellent Japanese bento. The location was peaceful, right next to a temple.

The staff is super nice and offered to drive me from and back to the station. The breakfast is an amazing japanese breakfast with varying dishes from day to day. The location was very unique and I enjoyed waking up in a temple, however some might prefer being closer to the public transfer. The walk down and up is amazing though. I recommend to stay here warmly.
