Amazing property which gives you an insight into Cambodian life! The family really look after you, they took us to a Khmer boxing match and taught us Cambodian dance in the evening! They do a family dinner every night which is super tasty and in the mornings, there is a market right on your doorstep! Would definitely recommend staying here - thank you!!

Staying at Sambat and his family was a beautiful experience, right into the village market. The tour is inspiring and full of discovery. Very helpful to help plan anything as well. And the home made cooking was delicious. It was a beautiful time and even extended nights to appreciate it all a bit longer.

If you like to try to stay with locals this is the place. We had a room to ourselves but there was a room divided just by a curtain next to us. The toilet and shower are shared but all is clean. The owner is nice, and will cook for you. They can also organize activities. There is also a local market right next to the property which we found out when the noise woke us up at 6 am 😆. It is part of the experience.

“Wonderful homestay, more than just a room for the night!”
It was a pleasure to be welcomed into the family home, all of whom were incredibly friendly and helpful. A truly different experience from other home-stays, embedded in rural Cambodia with livestock and (early) morning markets which only add further to the experience. Evening meals were delicious and generous for $3 and served at 19.00 with your fellow guests. We also thoroughly enjoyed, and would recommend, the full day tour by Mr Sok which started with Irrawaddy Dolphins and then Tuk-Tuk exploration of the surrounding villages. You see so much of daily Khmer life and industry whilst also being able to say hello to many many children who are delighted to see you and love the opportunity to practice English. Mr Sok also kindly gave us a ride to the bus station when we were leaving.

Fantastic stay at Tonle Mekong Homestay. Warm, family atmosphere and kind hosts who are always happy to help. The rooms are simple but clean, the bed is comfortable and the environment feels welcoming and true to the local style. The homemade food is excellent, real Cambodian cuisine, all delicious and at honest prices, not inflated for tourists. I absolutely recommend the tour they organize: not the usual tourist tour, but an authentic experience in local villages, where you see how people truly live and work. Perfect for travellers looking for something genuine and personal, not an impersonal hotel. Thank you for the beautiful experience and your hospitality !

“Family Life”
This was one of the best things we did in cambodia. It was so lovely to spend time with the family and we felt honoured to be able to share their home.Mr Sok was a fantastic host who puts his heart into everything he does(even though he felt unwell at the time). The tour with him is a must.He packs so much into the day and made it so interesting that you never once felt bored.Partically loved collecting his kids from school and meeting all the kids ,who love practising their English on you.Highlight was also the morning market, right outside.Loved waking to the hustle and bustle and Cockerell crowing.Would recommend staying here 100%.Food was so good, and the bedroom was clean and comfortable.

“Authentic and welcoming”
Mr. Sok was very kind and welcoming. It was our first stop in Cambodia and it was a great first stop. We arrived late and were welcomed with a great vegetarian dinner, the next day he helped us get a sim card, go to the atm plus we had the dolphin and tuk tuk tour. Also his children are very kind and are learning not only English but also French and Chinese!

The owner and his family are really nice! The dinner is delicious and freshly made. He also organizes a tour that goes to local businesses like a mushroomfarm and ricenoodle making family, that is amazing!

We had such a great time at this homestay. The people are so nice and you are right in the middle of the locals. The location is beautiful along the Mekong. Don't forget to take the tuk-tuk tour with the owner of the homestay. He will show you a lot about the life of the people there. The room and the shared bathroom were both very clean. Also, we like the bed as it was very comfortable. We would definitely come back. Thank you Mr Sok and your Family :D

“A slice of Cambodian rural life.”
We absolutely oved this homestay and wonderful, happy, helpful family that run the place. The food was fantastic, the family are so helpful, and the atmosphere was wonderful ( as long as you are happy to sample rural Cambodian life, which we were). You really are guests in someone's house. As other reviewers have said, this homestay is literally 5m from the daily market, which starts around 5am. As you lie in bed in the morning, you can these strange knocking sounds. It turns out this is the sound fish being prepared on wooden blocks in the market. Within 60 seconds of leaving your room, you are surrounded by fruit, veg, meat and fish, and the smell of cooking. The highlight of this place, though, is Mr Sok and his lovely family. He arranged a sunset tour on our first night, which included hanging out with his extended family on a bamboo platform, in the rice fields, eating fruit. Wonderful!

“One of our best experiences in Cambodia”
Where to start… We stayed 2 nights in one of the double room. This guest house is the BEST PLACE if you want to live and experience the Khmer way of life in a traditional wooden Cambodian house. The guest house is located in a small rural area of Kratie, with the excitement of a local market every day. We were welcomed by Mr. Sok and his wonderful family, who were very attentive. We ate there every day for breakfast and dinner. The food is delicious. He makes sure to vary the dishes and offers vegetarian options. We also took the full-day local tour with Mr. Sok. We had one of our best experiences in Cambodia, discovering the countryside with his explanations in English, all for a reasonable price. Mr. Sok’s kindness and genuine goodness are a true life lesson.

“This is the real Cambodia. This is their home and it’s beautiful and magical if you’re willing to open your heart.”
THIS is the real Cambodia. The Homestay is located in a side street, with the local food markets located right outside which is an amazing experience to wake up to each morning. We loved getting fresh fruit from the markets and the experience of the locals bartering. The host prepares breakfast lunch and dinner, which is delicious! He also offers local tours which are well worth the money. The hosts went above and beyond to ensure we felt welcome (taking the kids to the river to fly kites shortly after arriving!). This is a true authentic experience; not for the resort lover (there is no aircon, it is a shared bathroom and some rooms are separated by only a sheet). This is how you hear the true stories and lives of Cambodians and see it first hand. This is their home. We loved this experience so much and felt so incredibly welcome. 100 recommend if your a person willing to open your heart to the beauty of the real Cambodia.

Very friendly and helpful host, you really have the possiblity to experience local life in this homestay, one of the best places I stayed at in Cambodia Just keep in mind that because of staying in a local area it will be a little loud in the morning, work here starts earlier compared to some other countries, so you may wake up from the bustling morning market that takes place in front of the homestay

“អរគុណច្រើន”
My stay here was wonderful. Being in the heart of local life, in the market and discovering Cambodia in this way was incredible. The temples, the Mekong and especially the warmth of the Cambodian people and the children in the villages are in my heart for life. Thank you for everything. I highly recommend taking the time to stay here.
